Default Is this too good of a deal?

I am looking for a Cayenne for the wife as her lease is up in May. I have only been looking for an S, but came across this 04 turbo on e-bay... WHat do you experts think?

Whats left on the Factory Warranty - an 04 is going to be nearing the end of its facotry warranty unless it was CPO and you can't transfer a CPO warranty through an dealer- only private party.

Not trying to sound stupid, but what does CPO stand for? I'm looking at buying an 08S and would prefer to buy an 06S or even 05S with extended warranty. Thanks.

Just some info. I was considering trading in the 04S for an 06S. I found 2 for sale @ vision porsche in PA has 2 06 leftovers. one reg and one titanium. decided to keep what I got. Maybe someone else interested. Heres what I got back on my inquiry. no affiliation. just some legwork already done.

"Thank you for your interest in our 2006 Cayennes. They are both in excellent condition. The reason the Titanium edition has around 1,600 miles on it, is that our owner drove it for a period of time. The Titanium edition was put into service 1/31/07, and the Prosecco beige Cayenne S was put into service 5/31/06. If you check out our website, www.visionautogroup.com, there are multiple pictures, and a list of the options of each vehicle. The MSRP on the Titanium edtition is $69,845. Our selling price is $61,100. The MSRP of the Prosecco beige Cayenne S is $65,105, and our selling price is $56,900.

If you have any additional question, or if you would like to schedule a time to stop by to drive the Cayennes please feel free to call or email me.
Thank you

Chris Halvin

I don't know much about cayennes...so what is the matter with the 03/03 production date? what production dates are alright? does this also apply to the s model? I am considering to look for an 04 s,
this turbo looks very cheap.

If you look around this board a little more, you'll see that the early production Cayennes tend to have more trouble than the newer production models. Many people will avoid a MY 2003 or 2004 Cayenne completely.

A 2004 Cayenne produced in March of 2003 was still very early in the production cycle, when many of the early problems had not yet been identified or addressed. Even the later 2004s have some problems (some have many problems), but not quite as many as those produced earlier. For comparison, my 2004 was manufactured in May of 2004. It has been relatively problem free, but not completely.

The issue with a used Cayenne is that you can't tell if it is a good one or a bad one until you get it home. If you get a bad one, especially a turbo, the repair costs can be very high. There is a big risk involved when buying an earlier production 2004.

As for the unusually low price, it sounds like this car may be something that they want to unload quickly.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

What is the price on this one that makes it so cheap? Starting bid is at $1,000, but there is a reserve that could be $40,000. (maybe there is a buy-now price there that I missed though)

I find it funny that they claim fuel economy equal to the S...

Turbodan-
The MY04 production started in early 2003. Production in 2004 would not be too bad.

Assuming a Porsche dealer verifies/performs all outstanding TSB's/recalls and you have a warranty and the final price is reasonable, go ahead.

I think the newer you can get, the better. However, the 2005s are better than most 2003 or 2004 cars, including the 2005s that were built in 2004. They are not guaranteed to be free of problems... just ask a few 2005 owners... EW perhaps...

I don't see why not....after all, Cayennes regularly end up in Russia......Canada is much closer
