Default CPO Warranty, high failure items NOT covered

I've done several searches on CPO/warranty/comparison ect but not found the answer to my question. So...

I'm considering an '05 S w/ a CPO warranty. I asked the salesman what items are covered under the CPO and his response was "pretty much everything covered by the new car warranty but the radio". Now I know this is BS but what do you expect from a salesman?

What major/high failure rate items are NOT covered by CPO? I've downloaded the Porsche CPO brochure see here but the only item that jumps out at me is the radiator is not covered under the cooling system section. Does anyone know of any additional items NOT covered? I'm not talking about maintenance items like brake pads/tires/wipers but items like the ignition coils that seem to have a high failure rate.

If there is another thread that covers this please direct me, until then I'll keep searching. Thanks.

This may be where an Easy Care warranty may be better. I asked my service rep and he said in a whisper that the Easy Care was a better warranty and covered a lot more then a CPO'd car.

I agree - Easy Care *seems* to cover erveything can really hit you hard. Although I have yet to test mine...

I guess I should have made my link to this document a little more noticeable. Thanks "H" for making it easier to see.

I guess the reason for so little feedback is there aren't many vehicles in 2nd owners hands that are covered by the CPO only and not under the remaining life of the factory warranty?

I bought a 3rd party warranty at the non-Porsche dealer that sold me the car. I did not believe that the CPO gave me as much as the 3rd party does. Mine is a local (Quebec) underwriter warranty that caters to Porsche, BMW, Audi and MB. It is not bumper to bumper, but it does cover all mechanical, electrical, and even 4x4 components. I have about 5K miles on the factory warranty and a very good relationship with the dealer, so I plan to bring it in a week before to cover off any issues.

I believe I saw the AWD parts in the tranny section, I will check again to be sure.
"Transmission: Transmission case and differential
housing(s) and all their internal parts, clutch master
cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, torque converter, flex
plate, and all seals and gaskets.

Drive Train: Torque tube, drive shaft assembly,
center bearing assembly, and drive axle with
constant velocity joints."

As for the CPO coverage, per the brochure, assuming you're buying the car today (from dealer) it will have CPO coverage for 2 yrs from date of your purchase of the car (today). Again using your parameters, car purchased 6/03 would have been out of the Mfgrs. new warranty on 6/07, the dealer can get CPO put on a car out of warranty and it runs for 2 years. (til 2/5/10).

"Eligibility.
Current model year and eight previous model years
from the original in-service date are eligible for
enrollment in the Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned
program. In addition, each vehicle must have less than
100,000 miles/160,00 kilometers to qualify.**With
an exhaustive multi-check examination, any faults not
meeting the inspection standards must be repaired."
