Default 04 brake booster failure

Got in the CT this morning and a red tire shows up on my screen saying brake booster failure.

Anyone know if this is a major issue? The truck seems to brake properly but I am not willing to take chances with brakes so I am making a service appointment.

Any advice prior to bringing it in? Anyone else experience this issue or is this a new one for the books?

Ok I guess nobody had this problem because neither did I. Apparently it was the DME that went bad and was giving off false readings. They are swapping it out and everything should be good as new. I hope. Thank goodness still under warranty. Over $3500 for the part alone.

Ouch! Glad you're under warranty.

I am still toying with an 06 CTTS but at the rate I am going the extended warranty will most likely be the way to go. I am lined up for one but they want me to wait until June to issue it. I go naked in 8/08 so I still have time.

Wow,

Got the CT back with new DME. What a difference. Did not realize how much responsiveness the CT had lost over time. Apparently the DME had been gradually going bad. The CT is much more responsive than before and feels like a new vehicle. Inquired about the extended warranty while i was in there and it doesn't look too bad, an additional 4 years 48k miles for under $3k will look into it more closely but sounds like it is worth doing.

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge. What does DME stand for?
