Tool required, you can use a Durametric Diagnostic cable for this and much more.
What are your thought on the TT V8's and oil change intervals?. I bought mine used, so not sure how it was treated, so I change every 5k with filter each time. On my 3rd if I recall. Hoping it cleaned up house it needed it.
