If you want this, get a Cherokee SRT-8 and drop in some race seats. Drive it two-footed and don't be afraid to run down taxis. You won't feel guilty about getting scratches, dings, and dents on it. This is my plan should I move to NYC.

No need to get SRT8, a Cayenne will do just as well. Excellent plan, btw

No, it was real. Not a bad Cayenne either (which coming from Larry was a compliment).

Now, the Porsche Minivan.....that may have been a leftover from "those days".

Ok guys thanks for your feedback and now everything is clear. I think I am going to get mine with the manual transmission. Any pros and cons about that?

a base Turbo is probably better value then a tip'd GTS; go for the manual!

Good options list, but I too will delete the non-smoker package. The extra power socket that is within the driver's reach will come in very handy one day.

Am I dreaming this? You can get a Pepper GTS with a manual transmission? As in, not a slush box? With a real clutch? Gear oil in the gear box, not ATF?

Nice to see you back.
Where have you been?

P.S. Cayenne = Nightmares, not dreams.

Playing in my new toy box. Radiant heat install finished this morning!

Yes. But, can I have nightmares about a manual transmission?

From the other two GTS threads it seems so. But, nothing on PCA's or KBB's websites corroborates.

A long time ago, CarChick had a Rodeo with a 5-speed manual transmission. It was great. Well, err... the manual transmission part was great. Made the truck much better. Now, as for the rest of it... she thought it would be fun, when the lease was up, to drive it to the factory in Indiana, park it outside the gate and set it on fire. I convinced her that the residual value would suffer slightly therefrom.

I drove the '08 CT with and without PDCC. PDCC is an extension of PASM, so I'm not sure how it could be offered on steel springs, perhaps there's a way to wire it all into the dampers? It's just like the system in the Land Rover Discovery at one point. I found PDCC to be the most compelling improvement in the new Cayenne and wouldn't "bother" with a new Cayenne for any of its other advantages. I think the GTS is interesting too, but I wouldn't buy it over an S for the meagre horsepower, I'd only be interested in the manual gearbox. And this is an engine and a car that has an "automatic" mode even with the manual gearbox, just put it in 2nd and you've got excellent acceleration from a standstill, easy stop-n-slow in commute traffic and it winds out to a very nice clip between traffic lights with no doubt an enjoyable exhaust note on overrun with the advantage of engine-braking instead of having to rein in the automatic with more brake pedal.

For other "stuff" like Nav and back-up camera, I'd happily use the (better) after-market Nav with live-traffic and automatic road map updates. The camera is an easy add-on and the audio system needs iPod and bluetooth integration, so again, I prefer after-market until the factory updates to at least 2006 technology.

In short, if I were to get a GTS, it would have to be manual and with PDCC -- and I think that's a pretty appealing car.

Again, given the huge price delta between '06 and '08 and the relatively unremarkable advances in the '08, especially since the cabin and driving dynamics haven't changed, I don't see value in paying for the facelift, I'd get the "old" Cayenne with CPO and enjoy the cash in the bank along with the car.

i think the new engines, traction software and PDCC warrant a new 08 vs 06 and back.

to boot, they look better to some.

Well benjy3 you should be perk near $90. My order is spec's as follows and tips in at $85;
Black/Full black leather.
Tiptronic
Light comfort
Headrest crests
Heated front seats
Front and rear park assist
Trailer hitch
Moonroof (so the dog can breathe)!
Entry and drive
Sportplus wheels
Non smoker package
Litronic Lights
Orange exterior stripes/will paint wheels orange cus' my kids suggested making the GTS opposite of my Orange/black GT3RS.
I always upgrade the stereo system in my cars. The Porsche Nav is not as user friendly as aftermarket stuff out there.
