Default Fan Squeaks?

Hello all, I have a 2004 CS with 84K . It has just developed a fan squeak. Its audible when heater fan is running with or without engine on and is also audible from outside. Anyone else have this? Also creaky sunroof? Other than that still solid! thanks

I took my 2004 CS in to the dealer this morning for heater fan noise. Mine is not so much a "squeak", but really more of a high pitched "hum". It is intermittent in nature, and it is sometimes louder than other times. When it is making this noise, it can easily be heard outside of the vehicle.

I'll let you know when I speak to the dealer this afternoon.

I can hear a very distinct hum when the fan is shut all the way down, but when you shut it off completely the hum goes away as well. But it is defintely a squeak when running.

Just heard from the dealer. The official diagnosis is that the "blend air door actuator" needs to be replaced. Apparently this is quite a big job. The new part has been ordered, and when it arrives I will have to schedule 2 days for the job to be completed. We'll see if this actually fixes it...

No estimate was given - I am fortunate enough to still be covered by the original warranty since I only have 32 K miles.

Trust me, you dodged a bullet here! If you want to be horrified, go back in the shop while the tech is in the middle of the repair. You will not believe your eyes! It's almost as bad as watching the very first dealer install of the Phone Prep Kit!

P.S. - don't ask me how I know about either one of these "repairs"!

I guess that explains the need for two days of service. I suspect that there will be quite a "tear down" involved.

I won't ask how you know... but do the symptoms above sound like they were diagnosed properly based on your experience?

Depends on what your definition of "big job" is.....

If you define "big job" as removing both seats and the entire dashboard assembly from the front of the vehicle, then reversing the whole thing, taking a couple of days, then yes, I suppose it's a "big job".

Damn, they really buried that thing down deep, didn't they? Probably figured, "well, this thing will never have to be replaced".....

mine got diagnosed as the blower motor.... estimate was 4 hours and part of 200+ so about $700... between that and coils I paid for out of warranty I am up there in repairs but considering 84K might not be too bad.... just the same gonna make a phone call to porsche specially since they now have TSB on the coils....PS they said they have done a few of these blower motors already!

7 minutes huh? I read the printed estimate and the labor was 330 i believe the part 244... on the phone they told me 4hours for labor looks like only 3.... I realize that is still probably way too much time but the service advisor said it was involved and something about a wiring harness as well... Dennis the other poster was told 2 days for the repair???

Mine is actually a blend air door actuator, not a blower motor.
