Default Four Wheel Drive System Faulty??

I hope this one is not like the PHC Unavailable ghost that droptop and now Madfox are chasing.

I had this one show up ~8 times this weekend over about 900 miles of driving.
Showed up most notably during colder weather.... 29F - 39F

Car drove fine although I was a little nervous in the snow.

Anybody else seen this one?
If so, does the system store the fault?

Sorry for the bad cam-phone pic.

After further digging, I found a thread here which pretty much explains it....... Curious how this will be diagnosed.

Scott: Would like to hear the diagnosis. Mine (2004-June) has intermittently displayed that message for several years. Essentially, I have ignored it, as it goes away on recycle (if not sooner). Haven't been particularly concerned as I got an extended warranty (after being scared ****less by the early model posts). Had an issue-free 30km service/checkup and am now at 60km. If this is an issue maybe I'll do the TSB dance for coils and other gremlin-related issues.

I just got it back from the dealer today. It was a faulty transfer case servo motor.

- 0.5 hours labor
- P/N 955-624-601-00

Apparently, the potentiometer in the motor became intermittent at low temps.

Hope this helps

Scott
