Default Spare Tire Question...

Looking at several '04 & '05's and for some reason most have the jack and tools but no spare. Is there any logic to this?

Yes, it is logical that you asked the question.. and the answer is the jack and tools look very nice in the rear... very, very pretty... but a spare tire? This is an accessory for alpha/betas and can be bought at your local Porsche dealer... logically speaking of course, 06's and later have a spare.

For $5K, you can have an external mounted spare tire carrier from the Tequipment catalog.

I was thinking that it was probably an option back then. Probably one of those options that the dealer never mentioned wasn't included. Kind of like the floormats in the '08 977S Cab that I just got last week. MSRP of $106,969 and the car doesn't come with floormats...they want an extra $140 for them. yet never mentioned that until the delivery day. what the #$@%@

Ya... $8000 pofit built into MSRP pricing isn't enough for them I guess.

No, $8000 (profit) was the charge to select the color of your Carrera GT's brake calipers (red or yellow)

Happy shopping, jda!

NB: The spare that you can buy for a ridiculous price is a temp spare. A full size will not fit in the compartment.

BTW: If you buy one with the large subwoofer (yes, there are 2 sizes), even the temp won't fit.

BTW 2: If you buy a TurboS or PowerKit version, even if you do yank out the subwoofer, the temp spare will simply be more ornamentation, as it won't fit over the brakes.

BTW 3: No, I'm not bitter about having a friggin' SUV with no decent option for a spare. Just need more Kool-Aid. Actually, I'm thinking about turning that nice hollow area around my subwoofer into a tiny koi pond.

Default Pimp my Porsche...

I'm sure that "Q" and the gang over at Pimp My Ride can help you out with the Koi Pond. I think they've done that before.

The above is brought to you by the Marketing Department of Porsche Cars AG and Porsche Cars North America.
You can't make stuff like this up.......

BETA. later BETA.. but still a BETA. If you can live with no spare, possibly unfixed glitches and if you can get CPO, you possibly "can" be okay but remember CPO is from manf. date. so time is running out on its usefulness on an early 04 IMHO.

not CPO but can get it from a dealer friend possibly for under $30k. Full service records. just have to decide if I want to roll the dice. Possible to put a 3rd party aftermarket warranty on it...not sure of price or coverage though.
