dremel + drill bit + plexiglass = seatbelt clip.

I think the message is: If you are smart enough to drive a P-car you are smart enough to:

1. Purchase a plexiglass sheet
2. Dremel sheet to fit seatbelt holder

No?

for all of you guys who are simply saying that if the seatbelt ding is gone, you will not wear your seatbelt, thats wrong*.

In my Lexus LX470 and LS430, neither of them chime. If you take your seatbelt off a little red person w/ a seatbelt on flashes on the dashboard forever how long your seatbelt is off. Same goes for the passanger, if someone sits down but doesnt fasten the belt, a little light near the radio flashes. No Chimes. I always wear my seatbelt(even if my driving record proves otherwise due to plea bargaining in court).

When we had a 997T the other weekend, that freaking seatbelt chime drove me nuts! As soon as i unbuckle to run inside while leaving the motor on, DING DING DING DING, when i start the car without my seatbelt on, DING DING DING. It was very annoying. At least with the Fords we have rented, it starts to chime as you are driving to REMIND you not to bother you.

Im all for getting rid of the chime, the way porsche does it, it doesnt help, but bothers the crap out of you.

Interesting how this thread epitomizes this board in so many ways:
Initial poster complains about a common problem that vexes many, but which Porsche considers a "feature," not a "problem."
Others suggest solutions ranging from "make the dealer fix it" to "simple but relatively expensive" and "cheap, but labor intensive" DIY efforts.
A few cynics, fatalists, or just plain old coots raise the question of whether a "daily driving habit" work-around might be a better solution, but in the meantime raise the ire of other cynics, fatalists, and old coots.
In general, everyone tries to contribute with genuine suggestions, humor, or, at least, sympathy.
In the end, the initial poster has to decide on his own solution - in this case, he even came up with a brilliant, cheap, and easy, DIY fix that virtually anyone could emulate.
Once again proving why this is the best board on the web.
