Steve, think long & hard before purchasing a used Cayenne. S#it will hit the fan pretty fast and you'll have no other choice but to come back here to cry, err... for advice ... and that's when you ask yourself the following: do you REALLY want to deal with all of this?

Get the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 if you want something faster than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo in a straight line. I have not seen too many SRT8 on the road but I heard it can even keep up with the new ML63. But american car is not my cup of tea though.

Whooooa. I think my friend who's a wholesale may have struck gold....
How bout one of these? He LOVES this Lexus GS300 AWD, yes, it's not an SUV, but it's closest looking to her Jag and holds 5 people AND can get us to the slopes!

EnigmaWmn,

Do you know any good parking garage in China town? I will be in the City this weekend and would like to know any reputable parking garage in the city. Thank you very much for your help.

Chinatown in DC? I'm afraid I don't. We just valet park with most places down there. Parking can be hard, but sometimes I'll park 4-5 blocks away or more and find spots. Oya and Zengo are both fun restaurants.

Steve,
You are all over the place. Stop and take a breath
Give your wife $40K, have her buy whichever car she wants, done.

I offered to buy my bride any vehicle she wanted, no questions asked, she chose a 2005 Ford Excursion 6.0L PSD Eddie Bauer to replace her 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3L PSD Limited. Fine with me.

Have you considered a Land Rover LR3? Before you all start bashing Land Rovers, better check them out. Go check out LR3 forums and look at the kind of problems they are having compared to the Cayenne problems.

Total creature comfort, easily and comfortably seats 7 with the rear fold down seats.

All the things the Cayenne doesn't have (good, intuitive nav system, Bluetooth, integrated satellite radio, full size spare...the list goes on) you will find in the LR3 and it certainly doesn't drive like most 'SUVs'.

I own both a Pepper S and an '06 LR3. For daily driving (especially in inclement weather), give me the LR3. If I'm in a hurry on the highway, give me the Cayenne.

My wife is in the market for an SUV too because her current ride is coming off lease.

Last week, she test drove the ML 350 and she really liked it. I drove it too and I liked it too.

Might be worth taking a look at it.

Not a Cayenne S in terms of performance, but not half bad for a pretty decent price.

Also, I agree with LTC...just let her pick her own car...but in my case, I'd be careful not to characterize it is me "giving her the money."

Actually, I'm not allowed to handle/control money; my wife does all of that....as a matter of fact, I could wake up one day and discover I have no money.

As long as you hold the pink slip to your beautiful 986TT I'm sure you will sleep well at night.

Yes, I do.

I've had my '06 CS for three days and nothing has broken yet. The best thing so far is that it drives a lot "smaller" than the physical size. My Merc-ML still scares me on curves.
