Buying a non-CPO '05/'06 S
I've been looking for a CPO '05 with some options but not loaded for upper $40s but haven't had much luck. Used '05s are hard to come by and the few around seem to be out of my budget. I've been offered new '06 Titanium Eds for mid-$50s, so I was thinking I should be able to find one over a year old with low miles for upper $40s. And maybe if I had the patience to look around for a few months I might, but I can't wait that long.
My question is, if I plan to keep the Cayenne for 5 years or so and the factory warranty will be expired am I just asking for trouble? And are the extended warranties offered by 3rd parties worth the money or are they just a waste of cash?

I agree CPO for 7 years and up to 100k is your best bet.....an 05 will have less issues then a beta 04 model ...

a search on the term "naked" will yield a number of posts on the inadvisability of running ANY year cayenne without a warranty. the 05's are better than the 04's, but certainly not troublefree, as my own lemon law case shows. if you can wait a few more months, that new 06 will drop even further in price as the 08's start to hit the showrooms. i suspect that by the time you factor in the warranty on the 05 and the relative costs of money between the new financing and the used financing, the 06 is the better deal.
also i would check the history of the 05 VERY carefully. give it another month and mine might be on the lot next to it.

no offense but if you are looking for an used one in the upper $40s and been offered for a brand new one in the mid $50s... it's a no brainer to just get the new '06... unless you are already stretching it in the upper $40s and imho, you shouldn't be looking at a cayenne in the first place, especially if you plan on keeping it for 5 years or so, this is not a cheap to maintain vehicle by any means... again, this is strictly my 2 cents and i don't mean to be rude in anyway..
