Yes...

The result is the following production plan:
Assembly Leipzig/Porsche
Engines Zuffenhausen/Porsche
Body Bratislava/VW
Other system suppliers primarily from Germany

Assembly in the new Porsche factory in Leipzig will give the Cayenne the right
to wear the seal of quality “Made in Germany by Porsche.”

Geez thats funny when I look on my door jam it clearly reads "Made in Germany" I guess Porsche is lying??
Also if you look at the door jam and Monroney of the ML63 guess what it says? Built and assembled in Vance , Alabama.

Just visit a Mecedes forum if you want to hear about a lot of problems. I seriously considered a ML63 for over a year. I was the first to give a deposit for one at my local dealership. Since I was in line to buy one I started to visit the ML forums. It sure seemed like a high percentage of ML buyers had problems. The transmission was a problem area. The rear door didn't seem to latch correctly for many. Electronic gremlins, etc. And this is for the newer revised version, not just the first trouble plagued version.

You will also read about some problems here. Most are with the 2003 and 2004 models. At least Porsche seems to have improved the vehicle with age. Porsche as a manufacturer has one of the highest ratings for vehicle quality. MB currently has one of the lowest ratings. And I am a MB owner having owned a S class and am currently the owner of an SL.

I bought a CTT and love it. It is not perfect, but I would rather have it than the MB. The ML is faster in a straight line, but in the articles I have read, the Cayenne beats it through the slalom, which truly tests the handling ability of a vehicle. The Porsche also has better braking ability. In the Spring of 2007 there will be a freshened Cayenne and it is rumored that all models will have more horsepower with the CTT rumored to be at 500 HP What will the future Cayenne Turbo S have, 550 HP???

And if you ever plan on taking it off road there is no comparison.

I've had my 06 CTTS for a few months and no problems to report.

I voted for ML. Go get it and then come back and let us know how it goes.

P.S. Cayenne is a "girl's car" anyway :-D

There is a very detailed process to choosing the best in this situation... Pick the one with the best sound system.

Seriously, I think the CttS is the most amazing car/truck that I've ever owned... or thought I might own. It is my favorite all-purpose machine of all time. And the engine is simply off the charts.

Porsche turbocharged V8 special.

Shame on you Griff for not reading the manual, all 300 pages of it. Your punishment... being that guy who paid a dealer $200 for a $90 oil change.

Hi Dell, haven't seen you around! Ever move on a GT3? You think there is still much left dep left in 996 GT3 prices?

Hey Chris! Been doing the whole "move into the new house" thing. Ask me my level of humor right now

I think I am going to wait till the winter to buy the GT3 since I see the prices dipping into the 70 now and hoping that I can grab something in the low 70s/high 60s before the spring DE season. I only have 2 more events this year (this weekend and the 1st weekend of Dec) so not much to gain by buying the GT3 right now.

V6 models get oil changed at 10-12K (when light comes on), unlike V8 models.

That's funny, my Cayenne V6 manual must be printed incorrectly then. Also, my service light didn't come on till a couple tanks of gas ago and I have 19K on the Pepper now.

Default CTTS

Outside of an air bag light issue tied to seat belt malfunction and a couple of extra qts of oil within the first 5k miles, my CTTS has been great. I have not driven the ML63 but a buddy has one and loves it. However, he does admit that it does not do the off road thing as well as the Porshce. It's just amazing that a vehicle this size can move like it does. I had been thinking that a new M5 might be a better fit for me but this Turbo S is too much fun! I think I'll hold on to it for a while longer. One of a kind.

From the Cayenne "Maintenance" Booklet, Page 4, col. 2:

"Engine oil change service - Cayenne (V6):
With the Cayenne, the multi-purpose display will prompt you to have the oil change service carried out."

Maybe you have also missed the threads about the wonderful service display coming on at all kinds of sporadic intervals. Mine came on at less than 1K and then again at 4K. Go figure.

Changing your oil based on manufacturer's rec'd interval taking into account and additional stress (tracking, etc.) you can modify. Other than that you are throwing money in the toilet.
