Nitrogen vs. Regular Air For The Tires
I read all of the posts from about a year ago and was not able to draw any sort of conclusion concerning the use of nitrogen in the tires. I thought I would ask the quesiton now and see if there is/are any new information/comments about using this method of airing up the tires (especially on a Cayenne).
The tire pressure on my CTT remains fairly constant (at least with this set of tires) but the next set (coming soon) may not be the same. I know on my wife's car, the pressure loss is less than 1psi over a six month period (light weight car) and the tires wear very even.
I am looking forward to any comments (oh yeah) or suggestions.

We used Nitrogen for our kart tires when racing as tire pressures weren't affected by the heat as much. Costco uses it in their tire centers- don't really know how much difference it REALLY makes though...

A secondary advantage of N2 with tires/wheels which are TPMS equipped is the lack of moisture.
N2 (and most other bottled gases) are MUCH drier than ordinary compressed air; this helps reduce temp/humidity induced failures in TPMS (electronics) modules in the tire (hot and humid is not the greatest thing for electronics).
This is the primary reason commercial tire facilities are changing from compressed air (can actually be compressed water with a little bit of air on a really humid day without inline dryers) to bottled gas for tire inflations.
As skl mentioned, I use N2 in my son's kart tires and the Cup car tires.

Larry here,
Ignore what that guy just said.
The Cayenne deserves nothing but the best to ensure that it displays its superiority to all other vehicles on the road.....
Fill the tires with hydrogen.......worked out for the Hindenberg, right?

Another byproduct of Larry's invention is, for those of use who did the hydrogen engine conversion a while back,is if you run out of fuel, you just need to find a railway line (of the correct gauge) , turn the auxilliary switch which sucks the hydrogen into the engine thru the TPMS and bobs your uncle another 500km or until you can find a real GAS station.

Don't worry, the effects are NOT permanent....just look at me......no wait a minute, maybe I'm not a good example.
