Sirius FM modulator installed
I installed my Sirius radio transmitter about 6 months ago, however I had not taken the time to hard wire through the antenna via an FM modulator. What was I thinking?!?! The sound quality is not even comparable! What an improvement over the wirelss FM modulator! I do have to say it was a bit of a P.I.A. but very worthwhile. Thanks to Mudman2 for the pics...they were quite helpful.
Not sure if anyone has posted the parts needed, so here is what I used to make it all work together.
Metra VW/BMW/European Vehicle Antenna Adapter (40-EU10)
Metra VW/BMW/European Vehicle Antenna Adapter (40-EU20)
SIRIUS FM Module Relay (DEI 14110)
1 coat hanger to fish the cables through the PCM cavity.
All parts are available at Best Buy. You have to go to the car install bay to get the antenna adapters. About $50 for the parts.

I'm guessing you went this route, as opposed to the fully integrated OEM Sat Radio kit, since either
A: you don't have a PCM (OEM sat radio only works with PCM, not CDR23)
or
B: you have a PCM, but it is not version 2.1, hence 'incompatible'

C: I couldn't justify spending the $$ to buy the kit and have my Cayenne ripped apart to get it installed.
So, I spent not even 25% of the cost and am very pleased with the outcome.
Thoughts?

I was just curious.
The 997 guys are thrilled with the Cayenne Sat Radio install.......of course since PAG still hasn't released a SAT radio OEM option for PCM in the Carrera/Boxsters......
Somebody, no names please, told them that the Cayenne kit would work (and that Cayenne and Carrera/Boxster PCM are 99% identical), and all the installs have gone perfectly.
If only we could find out who told them.......PCNA and PAG must not have been happy.

Where is FM antenna? 01 996
Have an old school XM Sirius radio with FM adapter. The one you clip to the wires next to the built in antenna. Where is the FM radio antennea on a 01 996 Convertable?
