Default Observations in Shopping for a CTT

1) Every dealer has 5-6 Turbo S's on the lot, not one dealer was really happy about it. I suspect that these will sit on the lot until winter/Autum.
2) Discounting on new CS very common. Had one dealer drop $6k before I could ask the price.... Seems like the discouting also carries over to new "in stock" CTT's.

3) One dealer has a CPO 05' CTT for $79k. I said he was dreaming and got him down down to $73k, think there is more to go. The car has 5k miles on it.

4) Other dealer has a 04' CTT for $69k with 24k miles, before haggling.

Seems like there is a possability that prices could further compress with the soon to be "seen" Cayenne face lift and what appears to be some heavy discounting. Anyone else in the market notice this?

What do you think a 05' CTT should sell for at a dealer with a CPO?

I was just in my local dealer a couple days ago and talking about my desire to "possibly" trade up to a TT and immediatelty without asking was told it was $10K off.

Boy, when mine gets near 50K miles that sounds tempting... but then so does a F250 powerstroke Lewis....

The PCNA business plan will have you trade in/trade up, thus selling a new vehicle and providing someone a low entry cost Porsche (Cayenne).
The depreciation numbers for modern Porsches are driven by ever increasing production numbers.

However, it is hard to go wrong with a 'cowboy cadillac'.....and/or the smaller hybrid version.

Dell and others, do you think its worth paying a premium for a 05' or 06' over an 04'. Seems like there are several 04' with +/-20k miles for signifiacntly less than 05's. Assuming you get the CPO, is it really that important on a CTT to get an 05' or younger?

Personally I would go with the 05 since the 03 and 04 models had their know bugs and the 06 and TTS models will be a bit more $$$.

If it was me, I would find a nice CPO 05 for the price you are willing to spend. The hard part is right now there is no 07 coming to the dealers since they will early release the 08 next spring. That will prevent you from negotiating based on 07 models sitting on the lot next to an 05!

The 03/04 models had bugs? Surely you jest.
Why wasn't I told BEFORE I bought one? Damn, always a day late and a dollar short.....

It was a conspiracy deep within PAG to keep you in the dark.

Does that mean I'm still in the (PAG) closet?
Maybe the guys at South Park will do an episode, a la Tom Cruise, telling me to get out of the (PAG) closet.

The 997 GT3RS ALMOST had me thinking of buying a new Porsche....but luckily it was just a passing thought.

It really depends on your budget. If you want to stay below $70K then a low mileage '04 CTT with a production date AFTER 01/04 is your safest option. '05's get you a few more bug fixes (most '04's have them applied as Service Actions) and the DVD nav. For that you will pay a $10K - $15K premium that will depreciate away in less than a year. It's your choice but I chose the late production '04 route and so far I'm happy (and it's not even a CPO )
