20,000 mile service
My Cayenne is due for it's 20,000 mile service. Changing the oil, pollen filters , rotating the tires and "inspecting" everything else for $700 doesn't seem like a great bargin.
Does self-service hurt the resale value of the vehicle?
Do you perform the routine maintenance yourself?
Will the dealer turn off the service reminder if you take care of these items yourself?
Does it void the factory warranty?
Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks.

As long as you are keeping receipts and documenting the service well (see your maintenance manual for the itemized checklist), it shouldn't cause a real hit to resale. It does vary from buyer to buyer, but as a trade in I don't see any big issue. I run a shop, and personally have all my newer vehicles taken care of at the dealership as one, it helps to build rapport with the service department should I need some help with a "borderline" issue later on. Additionally, there are a number of things I've had repaired while the vehicle was in that i didn't realize were issues or maybe didn't really bother me. One would assume that if a tech sees nothing but the same line of vehicles all day, they're going to have a good area where to look for problems that maybe aren't well documented or haven't begun to manifest themselves as drivability concerns. I guess the long and short is document everything if you're worried about resale and warranty concerns.

Expect a nominal charge to reset the service reminder indicator. There are no unusual service actions. Don't forget to inspect the coils for cracks. (That does not show up on the service list.)

Yes it is rip but was confirmed w/2 Chicagoland dealers, The Exchange (where I bought it) and Loeber. As long as the warranty is not affected and I will probably trade it in as opposed to selling it I see little reason not to perform these services myself.

Hmm, I paid $435 at my dealer for the 20K plus $158 for the 2 year brake flush (required if you like your warranty on ALL new Porsches, not just the Cayenne). Combined that sounds close to your price. Perhaps you should confirm all the service they are doing.
BTW, I"m one of those who would walk on a deal if it wasn't dealer maintaned while under warranty. It's a $50K PLUS vehicle, to cheap out on maintenance is a red flag for me on resale but that's just me! YMMV

I asked what was included and neither mentioned the brake fluid flush. Oil/cabin filters/torque suspension parts/misc. was all that was mentioned but I will double check.
