Default Discounts on New '06 Cayenne S

Hello to all.

I am about to pull the trigger on a new Cayenne S and was wondering how much of a discount off MSRP I can reasonably expect to negotiate.

All the car pricing web sites (Edmunds, KBB, etc.) will tell you to offer a little over dealer cost which is usually the invoice price less their holdback. Thus in theory it is possible to offer under invoice or close to it and the dealer will still make a profit. I've helped others buy cars (not Porsches) this way and was wondering if Porsche dealers are no exception.

Also, should I just wait for the '07 models to come out?

Tell me about your buying experience.

The dealer is not going to sell you below invoice. They aren't going to tell you if and what the holdback is. Find out what the diff b/t MSRP and Invoice is and ask for that amount off.

Delta = MSRP - Invoice
Invoice = MSRP - Delta
Offer = Invoice
What your math says is to offer them invoice price.. but in a round about way. Is that what you meant to say? or where you trying to suggest something else.

Yup, I guess I could have just conme right out and said that but I said it the other way so he would know EXACTLY what his disount amount is.

He could probably get better than invoice on a Pepper on the lot but not on an order. Sales are in thetoilet right now with gas prices so this might be a great time to negotiate BELOW invoice.

If you wait for the facelift, I don't think you will get much of a discount, at least in the beginning.

Thanks to all for your replies. Let me clarify the math:

Dealer cost = invoice - holdback - other discounts manufacturer is giving to dealer
Offer = Dealer cost + reasonable profit for the dealer

Reasonable profit depends on the buyer and what the dealer is willing to accept. The hard part is figuring out dealer cost.

My question is, based on personal experience is it reasonable to offer around invoice? Or do Cayennes typically sell close to MSRP?

And should I just wait for the '07s?

Default Where is the invoice pricing

Hi Guys -

I'm a fairly regular poster on the BMW boards, but I thinking of trading in my 545 for an S. (There is very little leg room for passengers in the 545 - which is more than a little frustrating).

Has anyone posted the '06 invoice pricing on this board? I would like to make an offer this weekend.

BTW - I went to the dealer last night and it was a ghhooooost town. Is that typical? Very unlike the BMW dealers.

How long? Is denison/dice making it? When does hell freeze over? The PAG integrated phone for now is SIM card. I'm on Verizon and no SIM style phones... as far as I can tell the only cell company in USA with SIM is Powertel (or whatever the name is now). All the others are only SIM if you buy a dual phone for Europe and here. Update the CD NAV, bluetooth integration... HOLD BREATH... even though every other manfufacturer has bluetooth!! Hello!?

Bluetooth is there on all the BMW's with iDrive.

What BMW STILL doesn't have is IPOD integration and/or MP3 playback from the CD drives. Recent software upgrades allow MP3 from the indash CD Drive - but if you want MP3 playback from the 6-Player CD deck you paid $1,000 for...fuggedaboudit.

For what its worth - IPOD is there for the 3 series only...
