Default Best way to find a used trailer?

Is it worth it to search for a used trailer? If so, what's the best way to find one?

TIA

http://www.racingjunk.com/category/146
(there's currently 445 listed)

You can also contact your local trailer company; they sometimes have used ones as folks trade in for larger ones.

My 2 cents: if this is a long term investment, go with aluminum (either enclosed or open). Apart from being much lighter/easier to tow, it has a very high resale value, especially compared to steel trailers. A V nose will help a bit with wind resistance and stability, but not as much as proper tongue weight.
Also, I would recommend 18' or larger for a car hauler; easier to balance tongue weight (911's are easy to begin with since they have the engine in a trailer friendly position)....and no one has ever said they have too much trailer space. In addition, 18'+ trailers are easier to sell (larger # of potential buyers)

If it is for a (track/race) car, a driver's side escape door is a very nice to have; prevents you from having to climb thru the car window/rollcage.

Here's a few pics of my Cargopro (now owned by Thule) enclosed aluminum, skl has an ATC enclosed aluminum also.

BTW, what kind of fasteners did you use to secure your "stuff" to the walls and floors?

E-track is great stuff for securing stuff to the walls of a trailer. I LOVE our ATC enclosed 18' Vnose (22'total). Very good quality and reasonably light to tow with our Cayenne S. A friend just got a 18' open ATC trailer to tow his spec Miata and I followed him this weekend on his maiden voyage to our SCCA races and it is also very nicely made and tows great. I would also recommend an aluminum trailer...

ATC is the Cadillac of aluminum trailers. Period.

Other manufacturers are Cargopro (now Thule) and Featherlite. Trailex also makes an aluminum enclosed; you can't stand up inside, but it fits in a regular garage if that is important.

On the open trailer side, Trailex is the most popular, Featherlite is next and Cargopro also makes an aluminum open.

My trailer company installed all of my RBComponents/PitPal stuff for me; they used self tapping hex head screws directly into the studs. It's the standard screw they use for all interior hanging.
If you like, I can call them this week and get the exact type of screw used.

I looked for used for a long time. Finally figured out that buying new was about as cost effective as used. I paid about $5k for a new Haulmark (20') when they were used on ebay for $5.5k.

Don't know about your storage but my place is Public Storage and the space for a 20' trailer is about $40.00/mth less than a 24'.....

Thanks Jeff! I can handle 5K. Something to look into. Interesting about the used ones going for more than new

It pays to shop around. I got mine from Cardinal Sales in Indiana, brand new but last years model. I originally found them on Ebay and called direct. They had several available on their lot.

Lewis,

If you think of it this week, yes please do let me know what you find out from your trailer guys. I have a bunch of RB stuff showing up in the next week or so and need to het it properly mounted.

I used Rezner Trailer out of Duncan, OK- they got me a quick build slot and the trailer was done a couple weeks EARLY! Would recommend them for an ATC...
