Default PCNA AND GOOD COIL NEWS!!!

Just to give an FYI and not to have it buried in another thread I thought I would repost. I initially posted about my coils going bad off warranty. I got alot of great advise from this board.
Told my "service advisor" about the "known" coil problem. He said he never had a cay with that problem. Told him about the TSB and he agreed is existed but still not a warranty problem.
He then emailed PCNA and guess what!!!! They said IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM and would cover the repair!!

I would like to that those on this board for the info, if it werent for this I would have been stuck with a good sized bill!!

Good for this board, good for my service advisor at Reeves Imports in Tampa, and really good for Porsche Cars North America, guess they are not as bad as everyone says at times!!!

Bravo tkerrmd, Porsche can "do the right thing" afterall. Hopefully they will also DTRT with the CD Nav issue too.

Hopefully there is still time to re-target the Cayenne top-end test.

Great news.. as I said, the only difference on mine was that I had several service records stating that the engine seemed to be mis-firing prior to 50K.. they diagnosed it initially as bad gas. I told them that I didn't f*rt in my Porsche, so it had to be something else!! PCNA also coverd mine after 50K miles but I was meticulous about documenting it. NOW --- what do we do about the CD's... the 15 days is long gone.. has anyone re-written and/or found out anything?

Congrats Tom!

Anyone know the build dates for cars with bad coils?

MY03 - today's date.

Similar to the rear window microswitch (last TSB replaced a rear window microswitch (working or not) with the exact same one), the current coils are the 'same' as the old coils , just replace the old one with new (same design) ones and push the car forward thru it's warranty window......then it's no longer a PCNA warranty issue, it's an owner 'pay to fix it' issue.

Thanks again all. Lewis, as usual you are 100% correct and I actually thought the same thing. However, the way they handled this, if it happens again I hope they realize what you said and continue to "man up"

thanks again

Mine is actually in the shop today...I had a laundry list of things little things including the hesitation I saw at idle....they called this morning and said they saw only the slighest hesitation so they were not going to replace the coils.
I then mentioned all the TSB's and PCNA stuff we discussed on Rennlist and they did some more research.
Guess who is getting 8 new coils installed right now for free under warranty !!

...FYI I'm also getting the "2006 PAG Patented Chrome Plated Armor Shield Cowboy Belt Buckles" installed in the rear as well...Giddy up partna!!!

Have them check the plugs and the plug gap. So far, CS models require new plugs. My CT just needed re-gapped plugs.

So, I'm guessing you'll be searching for the "Recall A506 Cowboy Belt Buckle removal procedure" as soon as you get home from the dealer..............
