Thinkin' hard about a CS....my 1st water-cooled
So....after 230,000 miles on my 94 Chev 2500 (that's still in perfect mechanical running order) I'm a heartbeat away from a 04 CS. It'll be my first (of 18 at last count) water cooled Porsche. Besides the comp check and the rest of the usual stuff, would appreciate any help on what to look for specifically on this model.....don't pull any punches, what am I in for with one of these? Any issues I should be aware of? like brake issues, CEL problems, etc. The heaviest thing I'll be pulling is the RS track car on an open aluminum trailer.....

An RS track car is too light, go get a cruise ship, lol
seriously, coming from a 2500 to a Cayenne, is a big jump, you will forget about the 230K miles
on the odo. I have a 4runner that has almost 300K miles, i never drove it again, i gave it to my dad, he still drives it actually
Where are you buying this car? is it under warranty? certified? etc..
Just make sure you get the vin, and call the dealer if all the TSB's has been done....
Also please post the mileage, price, options etc...

FWIW, the Cayenne is a great vehicle capable of doing many things.. Luckily you'll be entering the fray after the alpha and beta testing. If you get a '06 or '07, you should be fine.. or consider a CPO and that way you can be "dressed" and not "naked" until 100K miles. This forum will provide all the "fixes" for the "glitches" ---- and some entertainment too!
Oh, and hope you like Kool-aid!

There were some gremlins that occured...a lot in the towing area as you can see by Lewis' various posts. If you can swing it, it might behoove you to hook your trailer up and see if you have any problems with it. I don't tow, but if Lewis has had enough Kool-aid he might elaorate without too much sarcasm.

I did the search and read those comments.........Since it will be my street car I won't be doing a lot of towing and if it's just an annoyance matter I guess I can live with it........that , or a bypass rewire i guess if i run out of patience.....my rig has surge brakes, so i won't need the controller.......
Thanks for you help

Beta - 04models (4)
Old timers feel PAG released vehicle before ready (12)
Thus, JDPower reflects too many glitches and problems (20)
That's it in <25words (24)

Surge brakes will cause a "!" Beep Check Trailer Lights.
Several forum members tow with surge brakes.....I'm guessing Trailex open trailer, incandescent lighting configuration.
The "!" Beep Check Trailer Lights will be an annoyance and has not been reported to cause total loss of lighting.......that honor is reserved for a select few.
So from this perspective, the Cayenne will be the annoyance you can live with, as you previously stated is acceptable.
In parting, remember these in relation to Cayenne ownership:
1. Fate favors the fearless.
2. Hope....the last hiding place of Cayenne ownership.
3. It's not really your first water cooled Porshce....it's likely your first water cooled Volkswagen (the only Porsche content is the V8).
