How do you get frequencies to show in your radio presets
I have PCM 2.1.
I want 92.5, a classic rock station, to show up as preset 2 by showing 92.5.
Instead I get 'L-3' with RBDS off and 'L-C' with RBDS on. Some stations show up with frequencies, others show up as 'L-1', 'L-7', 'L-A', etc.
Am I missing something, or am I asking to much of my PCM?

I would suggest you send complaints to Becker, c/o Harman Kardon International.
ALL MOST headunits for Porsches are OEM from Becker to PAG.
While you're at it, you may also want to ask them why on a CDR23 you can NOT shut off RDS....you never see the frequency if the station is broadcasting RDS.....
It seems bizarre that you can't disable this function, but that's the way it is.

Or, on a slightly more supportive note, you could always post a question here:

I suspect the answer is, 'that's just the way it is...' but I'd hate to drive around with it like that if there is a solution I'm just to dense to find in the manual.

Here's a response from the becker board -
"If the station is transmitting anything except the station frequency or call letters in the frequency segment of the RDS signal, "L" (local) will be displayed instead of constantly changing the text. The problem is with the stations, not the unit."
You have to love the mentality of the Germans.
to paraphrase - Zee problem is not the head unit that works differently than any other head unit, the problem is with all the radio stations that don't broadcast what we want them to.
I guess it would be too much trouble to add a default function that allows you to just see the station frequency. I know the PCM gets the station frequency because it displays across the bottom of the nav screen as well as in the dash scroll.

my issue doesn't seem to be with the RBDS script. If I am listening to 102.5 WDVE (FM station in pittsburgh), the station readout on the PCM as well as the dash shows different call letters such as KAWV??? this happens on several stations and is quite annoying. Am I missing something?

Now that it's revived....
See the pic. Here's how I did it: I reset all the presets in a below-ground parking garage. there was no FM reception, so no RBDS and no PTY available. The unit displayed "No PTY" or PTY Unavailable, or something to that effect.
I thought that as soon as I pulled out into daylight, it would pick up the RBDS info and the unit would repopulate the station preset indicators with undecipherable code. However, it has been this way ever since. I get station type, artist info etc, but our presets have remained.
