So just how accurate is 45 X 38 for the back floor area? I know it's not 'laser accurate' but exactly how accurate is it? Rounded up? Rounded down? Sorry to be so annoying, but the cello just BARELY fits under those measurements, so I'm hoping they are actually slightly more.

There is no end to the enjoyment I get from this site - no end I tell you. .....Are you happy to see the nurse..... good, very good.
How about taking the Cello to a dealer a testing it for fit? I heard a song one time that said something about 'There Ain't Nothing Like The real Thing'. Go for it. (I wnat to use the ' ' so bad.... JW

I'm 20 miles from the nearest dealer and this dealer in particular annoys the crap out of me, plus I'm working all day here...it seems to fit on those measurements, I just wish I knew just how precise they were...

I was avoiding medication, but this thread has me looking in the medicine chest.
Let me get this straight, you are about to drop 40,50 or 60k and you won't drive the 20 miles to make sure the case fits in the back of the truck. Who cares if the dealer is an *ss. BTW, after you do get you Cayenne, I bet the service department would love to see you for all the "!" you'll be getting.
ltc, what's in your medicine cabinet......I mean what works???

Chill out Grssypond - I know it fits in the back seats, and I know it will fit with the seat down, and I was not going to make my decision based solely on whether or not it fits flat on the trunk floor, but I did go to the dealer today. It fits, but snug as can be, and literally immovable, so it's almost unsafe, I think. I'll probably be getting a fancy new carbon fiber case in the next few weeks through my company anyway, and it's smaller, so I'll be just fine. It fits on its side, too.

the width is definetly 45, but the depth ranges from 36 on the edges to 38 dead center. Looking back there there are lots of ways you can configure the chello, but I'm not sure if any would work for you given your need for the rear seat. While the neck through the Ski hole probably wouldnt work what about resting over the seat (tethered down of course).
I agree with the others - its worth a trip down to the dealer. I'm happy to take photos with the tape measure if you'd like, but before you drop 40,50, 60K I'd make double sure.
I measured the back seats to make sure the 3 carseats would fit back there- I thought there was plenty of room until brought them to the dealer and buckled them in. They fit of course, but then the dealer added the cowboy buckle and now its a little tight!

Schvatkaaks,
I'm glad it works for you. I'm sure that getting it completely in the back flat allows you to transport the cello concealed with the cover pulled closed. I like the privacy and do not like putting the seats down except for short trips. I don't have any musical tallent, but I do enjoy golf. Before I bought my Cayenne, I went by the local dealer and put two sets of clubs in the back....both with big drivers. It was a tight fit for two sets, but works fine if I remove the drivers and place them on the cover. I also carry alot of horse tack, saddles etc...so I like to conceal everything with the cover closed. Point is, make sure you're satified with the fit and compromises that you may have to make.
BTW, I did not buy from the dealer, but I bring it to them for all my "!" problems....and they are happy to take care of me. The salesman haas even been pleasant....he tried to put me in a 911 recently.
