Default Over 50,000 miles Cayenne Owners' Pulses!

All right, Christmas opinion poll for all us high mileage Cayenne owners. Let's take each other's pulse on our comfort zone over the next 50K miles. I broke the news to my wife that I might consider trading the vehicle I promised to keep to 100K miles because of my ext. warranty debacle. She started spewing SANE things like: How can you like a vehicle that you drive 36 miles roundtrip to a dealer every 3 weeks. How many tires have you had in 50K? 3 sets or 4? ..etc. etc. etc. She's an engineer!?!? Ugh!

So Pulse time -- 3 questions?

1. How many miles (i.e. who is the mileage King/Queen)?
2. Naked or ext. warranty?
3. What are you intentions?

My answers:
1. 57,000
2. Naked as of Monday!
3. Unsure.. now, thinking of trading but to what? Despite it all, it has been a FUN drive and never stranded me.

How about this proposal.. You're in Mass. It is cold up there. You drive your Cayenne to Atlanta.. I drive over from Alabama. We go to Bones (my fave restaurant in ATL) .. we eat large steaks and drink lots of red wine.. We drive north from Buckhead to Hammond Drive and we get two bricks.. We line up side by side about 50 yards from the front door of PCNA. We place the brick on the accellerators and watch the asses of our Cayennes "stick" it to PCNA's lobby and front doors! We shake hands.. get in twin Yugos and drive back over to Bones for sambucca (3 beans for luck) and a salute to a great PAG idea gone awry. The End.

Okay.... Lewis ... WAKE - UP!!! you have overdone your meds, again.... the above was just a FANTASY... no, dear brother in Cayenne-hood.. I shan't leave you alone with the bad bad white jacket and the pencil in your teeth.. Let us squander another 50K miles on "das beast" and then trade to one of the first few Panameras off the line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should be glitch free and german pigs will fly and Satan was just spotted in Hell with ice on his pitchfork!

I took an A3 3.2 S-Line Quattro with DSG out for an hour or so test drive (last time the Cayenne was in for service), Brilliant Red/Black, loaded, a little over $40K, 21/27MPG. Not that bad of a driver, decent brakes, good steering (servotronic) feel, the usual above average VAG interior ergonomics.

DSG was quite smooth and responsive (unlike the Cayenne "Tiptronic S/W is smarter than the driver, so I'll give you the gear you selected when I friggin' feel like it). IIRC, they claim 200mS shift times. Decent brakes, 18" wheels/tires. Nice little NAVI interface (think of it as a 'baby' MMI from the A8L)
My local dealership didn't have any S Line literature yet, just an order guide (simple, give me all the options). The S line is a definite step up from the standard A series (I'd only own an S or RS class Audi......W12 A8L aside)

I did take the salesperson for quite a ride, probably the most spirited test drive he's had in a while, based on his follow up phone message. Hey, he offered to drive it like I normally would if I bought it, so I did.

Not a bad little car. My heart still holds out hope for an RS4 Avant here in the US, but it looks like that isn't going to happen (not that the RS4 is anything to sneeze at). Perhaps the next Avant will be an RS6......hmmmn, that would be interesting. I tend to think the Avants are more balanced than the sedans.

Audi ownership/service is very much "hit or miss".....then again, Cayenne ownership hasn't been any fun now that I think of it. Get a good Audi dealer and you're likely to be OK. I do sometimes miss my 02 S4.

Just a hair over 74,000 in my C-TT, naked, not sure of intentions - either buy it out in April or new lease on another - love to pick up an RS-6 Avant if they made one.......

The RS6 avant IS being discussed, although it would be 2 years before it made it over here.
The S6 is OK, never really a big hit here in the US, not like an RS6 would be.
The RS6 sedan never really had a chance against the M5, but the Avant would be fabulous here.
