Default PCNA Unveils Fix to Towing System

December 23, 2005

Porsche Company North America announced a rapid settlement of a lawsuit filed by Kris Kringle over problems with the factory towing system on its 2004-2006 Cayenne sports utility vehicles. At the same time PCNA announced availability of a Trailer Insulation Device accessory that permanently fixes the "!" Check Trailer Lights warning.

The accessory is available for immediate delivery. It consists of a plastic insulating device that prevents incompatible trailers from being used with the Cayenne towing system. The device is priced at $15.95 and can easily be installed without dealer assistance.

"This device has undergone extensive testing and is 100% effective in preventing trailer light warnings," claimed a PCNA spokesperson. "Better yet, we discovered it in our existing parts inventory so an ample supply is immediately available."

PCNA is offering an unconditional guarantee that its Trailer Insulation Device will prevent trailer light warnings. However it must be permanently installed in order for the warranty to remain in effect.

Commenting on PCNA's rapid response to his lawsuit, Kris Kringle remarked, "I am pleased that the Cayenne can be cured of the dreaded '!' so easily. Those Porsche engineers really know their stuff. It looks like ltc and I will have a Merry Christmas after all."

Afflicted Cayenne owners can purchase the Trailer Insulation Device at their local Porsche dealers.

Is this a great forum or what?

It's worth the purchase price of the Cayenne (and of course rennlist membership) just to enjoy things like this.

As best I can remember from my encounters with the Germans in my military days.. I doubt this was their design.. not to question the integrity of 356 Driver.. but I think this is of prudish British design. In fact, I would be stunned at this being a German engineering approach... When in France or Italy, the Germans always said, (and I quote) "Vee don't need no schtinking condoms.. vee are Germans for God's sake.. vee will stick it to you in any direction!" Unquote.

With all due respect to 356driver on an excellent post/idea *Bravo*),
I've been thru 3 of these (hmmmn, same # as the rear window microswitches....interesting).

It would APPEAR as though it is a marginal "design", as the thing keeps falling out at highway speeds.
(I only insert the ball hitch when I'm actually stupid enough...I mean intending, to tow with the Cayenne.....so most of the time the "1D6 condom is applied"

My dealer has been very good and merely replaces it everytime I show up for service.....probably leading to the inventory shortage, since as we all know, parts are built on an 'as needed' basis.

My S had one.. it fell off (slippage?).. Dealer is great.. but they never noticed. Think my dealer prefers its customers to be on the "pill".. they don't like no schtinking condoms either!
