Default Cayenne S Performance Flash now available!

Garret/Andrew @ GIAC just let us know that the Cayenne S performance flash is now available... PM/Email me for info but I have the dynos and it shows "Wheel Horsepower" (not crank) and the change is good for an NA at 15.8 foot pounds of torque to the wheels and 11.3 HP to the wheels. This is on an AWD dyno so you loose the most HP so times that by a loss factor of 1.43 to get your crank HP...

Hi Colm,

To be quite frank here, nothing is "worth" voiding your warranty. There's always risk involved and compromises to be made... However, the reason we do it via flash and with the switcher is so that the user can switch it back to stock in 10 second flat when going to a dealer... I agree in the old days of having to solder a chip on there in hardware, you were making some rather permanent changes. This however is not permanent

Anyways, for an NA car the gains are impressive. Of course I'm spoiled on Turbo and other forced induction cars where the gains are often huge for obvious reasons.

Pricing will be finalized very shortly but expect it to be inline with all the other GIAC programs for NA cars....

1.The change to the ECU is, I believe, recorded and recoverable, reversing the change doesn't erase the record that a change was made (2 in the case of a reversal).

2. Flashing the ECU voids the warranty, and Porsche is smart enough to know what the "knock on" effects of a flash are, and how they manifest themselves.

3. Whether or not the Dealer catches (or ignores) the change is a different issue and dependant upon problems encountered. But, you're at their and Porsches' mercy; and if they want to investigate they have the tools (and resources) to do it..

4. None of the above implies that any specific flashing method causes problems.

It's all about risk/reward. Just understand the risks.

These are all the technical and problematic issues that I would raise. Very thorough and well thought out... So, I agree with you!!! To me for the very minimal increases I don't see the reward outweighing the risk... but that's what this forum is all about --- Opinions! Others may feel that a boost is worth it. To each his own.. but know the risks.

Once you're flashed back to stock there is no way to tell anything has happened other than a "flash" count.... Again this is something the dealer has to look for and of course there are always risks involved.

What I want to know is....when did 911's of any series start stealing the SHARK moniker? The 928 is the original SHARK, has been since before the 996 cars were even a glimmer in some engineers eyes. You need to change to something more fitting like "Atomic Beetle Bug" cars or something
