When checking anything in the DME via the PIWIS tester, there is a large warning that will come up stating that the "data record has been tampered with". This is not something that requires any amount of poking around. Anytime the fault memory of the DME is checked this will be very obvious. Additionally, it is not a question of your relationship with the dealer as Porsche requires a printout of the vehicle analysis for warranty repairs that involve the DME and a fault. If the dealer warranties something knowing this is there, Porsche will see it when the claim is reviewed and debit that dealer the cost of the repair. The black box tells all.
