Default homelink question

hey, i am pretty new to this forum, so if this question sounds basic i appologize. I was just curious as to how the homelink works. I ordred the comfort package and i do not understand how this thing turns on your lights in the house or opens your door? can someone explain how it works? also i do not understand what the comfort menu can do to change these settings. I guess once i understand the homelink maybe i'll understand that. THANKS!

After setting the Homelink up according to the manual, one of the three buttons in the overhead console will open my garage door. I do not have any lighting system in my house that works with Homelink.

Before you start it is important that your remotes batteries are new, also when pointing it at the overhead console move it slowly around the designated area about 5 inch diameter circle, dont keep still, it will help.

try this link, I never used the lights or locks feature - just the garage door opener.

You have to have some sort of RF light switch to operate lights using the Home Link. There are several good choices at http://www.smarthome.com/; you can also integrate the Home Link into a full home automation system, and do stuff beyond turning lights on.

Must admit, though- opening ur garage or gates is the most useful application <g>.
