Alex, some/most of the vehicles just simply don't have the issue (look at some of the posts).. I think it is manf. tolerances in the drivetrain, wheel assembly, steering linkages, rims, wheels.. certain tolerances create a harmonic or vibration that somehow is magnified by tires that are "out of round" by RF's greater than 10-15 on the FRONT tires.. Just an opinion and like xxxholes, we all got one!

Update on my steering wheel vibration issue: Dealer will replace the rotors (only 2-3k miles) and at the same time we had re-balanced the new 20's with diamaris and found that 2 had RF of 18 and 1 has 26 the other close to 30. I called Tire Rack who opened a case with Michelin directly ad now Michelin wants the dealer to contact them and give them all the data for the balancing of the tires before they consider replacements. More to come.

Bravo! You have my respect and admiration.
Yes, I too miss the 80's. I was Air Force bound.....except being blind as a bat (I don't even see the big "E" at the eye doctor) disqualified me for left seat.
So, I spent the 80's designing inertial navigation for just about everything.
When the Gulf War broke out, my cousin from CA (very liberal, product of the 60's) called me on the phone screaming:
"Those are all your weapons! Look what you've done"
Ah, better than Viagra

Small world. Salute your service as well. Obviously an engineer if you're designing I.N.S. systems - used Litton's in VP squadron (P-3) east coast (thus forum nickname is from my squadron - Mad Foxxes). NFO went through Mather. Eyes went borderline just prior to training! Owned plane as an outlet.. i.e. got it out of my system! Very important when we were tracking Soviet subs with bad boys pointed at western europe and east coast of U.S. So thanks for the INS systems too! And for the screaming liberals about today's toys for our brothers in Iraq it shows that they are full of Bravo Sierra and are the reason terrorists are still at it today.

Okay sorry rest of the forum.. two military guys driving Cayenees with Bravo Zulus for each other's similar service in our nation's defense! Oh and compatriot..... lighten up on the Cayenne -- its still pretty impressive engineering!

Great! But, don't lose the humor when our beloved adminstrator strays into Porsche worship! Mudman wouldn't know with whom to spar if you don't "tweek him" and the forum won't be nearly as entertaining!

You two are not alone, so don't worry about it, my 80's was all ASW etc. Surface and Sub Surface, and ended in the early 90's with Rotary Wing.

It's a small world after all. Who'd thunk former ASW chatter via a Cayenne forum? Guess that shows the Navy "fixit" method.. don't believe the manuals and keep looking for a solution. So for those still looking for solutions to shimmy/vibration and not this "love fest".. just two last words: ROAD FORCE!
