It's Here
I got a call this evening that my S in Dark Sea Blue has arrived. I took my kids to see it while it was being prepared for delivery and to my surprise the black out package was not on the truck . I really hate how the silver stands out against the blue. My daughter said "Dad you can't see the silver pillars from inside the car", she has a point. I hope they didn't miss the satellite radio!
Anyway, it looks like th 996 has only 24-36 hours left in the family.

I agree which is why I waited to order an 05. I presume this is not an option which can be dealer added.

I would not accept delivery until the Black out package was installed. Or I would demand one hell of a price reduction. If you ordered it that way, that is the way you should get it. I wouldn't accept "it will need to be ordered and will take several months" either. Tell them to have it fed exed overnight and ready for delivery ASAP. Otherwise, I would tell them to hold the vehicle and demand interest on your deposit money until it is done properly. I would also lob in a call to PCNA expressing your disapointment in a nice way if they refuse to comply.

No, you cannot just add the trim from VW / Porsche, because with a "blackout package" the trim around the the windows is also black and the door handles are also black...I doubt that you can just stick them on??

thanks, I am going to see my bodyshop and see if I can have the pillars painted in the body color of the truck. That might look cool.
I picked up the Cayenne tonight and put a few miles on it. I have slight problem revving the engine beyond the 4700 rpm in manual mode. The kids love the truck and all its goodies. They where sad to see the 996 go but it was forgotten within 30 minutes.

Chas911,
Please don't tell me you bought the car from Paul Miller. I would have put them on the spot and insisted for a reduction in price. They have screwed everyone I know one way or another.
You may think twice about reving above 4200RPM for the 1st 1000miles. Manual recommends 2k for the turbo.

I know so I am not using the tiptronic feature until I get over 1k. It is easier to keep the rpms under 4k.
So far no hesitation or vibration but I do have condensation in both lights. Will keep the board updated. Programming the damn homelink is a pain in the ***.
I am a bit disappointed that the steering wheel functions don't allow you to scroll through all of your preset radio stations
