the service dept can't explain our being at the wear bars already in the rears at 6k miles with my grandmotherly like driving wife. so, the car is good for 6k on tires, 1k for oil, and gets 11 mpg. i guess they're trying to get me ready for the butt rape job on the CGT service and consumables.

the service should be about $400.
The tires MUST be alignment or pressure, I had 2 replaced at 9K free due to this.
MPG rises after 4500 miles, ave seems to be 14 - 19, so, I woukd start maniually calculating gas mileage. I can't believe she did not feel it.

I get 17-18mpg (manually calculated).
I got 22K miles on my 20" Continental tires (I have 20's for summer and 18's for winter).
I've had 2 alignments done, one I paid for, one Porsche paid for. Alignment specs have changed twice.

Also, I just realized I paid $90 to have the tires rotated (10 minutes max) and "reset RDK" today yet the damn tire pressure monitor is giving error messages "wheel change?" Not only that, there is a screw in one of the tires they didn't bother to notice (I noticed it upon inspecting the wear with them upon pick up). I'm kind of surprised at this latest service because it sure isn't what I've experienced from them in the past.

I doubt any of what you say about your car can be found the same by other members of this forum. Go back and recalculate all your numbers, none of them are correct. My tire wear evenly and I have 20,000 hard miles on them, I have no idea what your are talking about the oil interval, and I routinely get 16-18 miles peer gallon. My figures seem to agree exactly with Lewis above. Good luck!!!

I just always calculate MPG based on trip odometer (reset at each fillup) and gallons put into tank. I just do math in my head a lot, my wife says it's like being married to Dustin Hoffman's character in Rainman!

Congratulations. I think you just passed me in terms of who hates their Cayenne the most. I've just learned to live with it's "personalities".
I passed on the CGT due to my Cayenne experiences, and FWIW, wrote a letter to PCNA explaining my thinking...wonder where that ended up. I'll probably stick to Cup cars and air cooled Porsches, as the next 4-6 years at Porsche doesn't get me very optimistic.

As far as MPG is concerned, being from England we always do the math in our heads (at that price its important), but my calc and the computer are withing a couple of points normally. Its important to reset the calculator and make sure your reading average and not instantaneous.
Ben did you ever read the manual ?
remember to keep taking the meds, Lewis does and he's mostly stable :-)

Now Mike! What kind of example are you setting here?
I am beginning to think the Turbo has more issues than the S or V6. From the descriptions I read, the hesitation seems worse on the Turbo, maybe due to turbo lag. Fuel consumption is higher, I get about 14-15 with my S on average and up to 18 mpg on the highway. Oil consumption seems high on every Turbo I have heard of and yet on my S I have had no measureable oil usage in 35k miles. The oil has been changed three times and the level never moves from it's mark on the dipstick.
Tire durability is another matter and not model related. The front alignment was a problem but maybe that is being resolved. Mike and I use the 18" Continental Contact M&S and after getting the front alignment fixed we are both getting around 15k on tires. Which tire model are you using Ben?
