Angry Brake judder

Anyone have problems with low-speed brake-judder in the pedal?

My car is an '04 CTT, and the problem is recurring. I take it to the dealer about once a month, and they claim to fix it, but then it returns...

Its a horrible feeling as you lose brake-control around town and always feel you're going to rear-end someone...

Also: What is up with that sunglasses holder!?!? Worst quality plastics in the world - it keeps breaking and have had it replaced 8 times already....

Never heard anyone complain about a brake judder, could be the wheel balancing tho'.

What on earth do you do to break the sunglass holder ? mine feels quite solid, mind you all I do is open it to put sunglasses in it and take them out again, you packing lead in there or something ?

LOL.

The first time I used it, it fell off in my hand. Gone back ever since for 8 repairs, and it has NEVER closed properly - always jacks itself about 3cm from closed and then pops open the first time I go over a bump. INFURIATING!!!

HAHA. I know these little thing can annoy.

This is the dealer messing around and not biting the bullet and replacing by the sounds of it, complain directly to PCNA in Atlanta by phone, this sort of thing gets them really hyper with the dealer. It will get fixed.

Mudman: That'd be great, but my car's in Israel. Porsche IL is run by one guy, who I know too well, and the service department is a joke. There are 5 CTTs in the country, and they simply don't know their way around the car...

Well that could be a problem. No harm in trying to contact Porsche in Germany. Other wise you might be in for some unhappy times.

Those sunglasses holders do break quite a bit. If the are unsucessful replacing just the holder, it may require replacement of the actual frame assembley for the overhead console. I've had a couple that went that route. It is frustrating to have everything work so well and have little annoyances like that putting a damper on things.

As for the brake judder, I would recommend getting the runout of the rotors inspected. If that appears normal, have them check the hub flange as well. I've seen one that did have excessive runout and needed to be replaced to correct a shimmy/vibration issue. It's also possible the pads are a little glazed. What are your driving habits and how many miles have you accumulated on the vehicle?

Thanks all... the car's going into service next week when I head to Japan... I'll tell them to check the runout and the pads...

I'm not a 'crazy' driver with it, but I don't baby it either... a few heavy stops, but they are the exception as opposed to the rule. Car's now got 13K miles (20K km)
