Default S vs V6

I was just about to pull the trigger on a V6 Cayenne when another dealer called me about an S. I have been looking for a Cayenne with black exterior/black leather with the exterior package black (all the trim pieces in black).

I am going to finance through Porsche Options due to the silly lease laws here in Chicago. Well the first car I found with this package is still at the port in Germany but it has all the options I need. It stickers at $49.5k and I can get it for $47k. The no money down Options payment would be $800 per month. So I placed a verbal order through a dealer #1.

Well dealer #2 called me today to tell me about an S he found that almost identical to the the V6 I ordered. It stickers at $59k and he will give me $5k off. The options payment will be $70 a month more. Am I nuts if I say no?

Get the S. You will be disappointed with a V6 trying to move this barge. Plenty of power with the V8...

I would definitely go for the S, too. IMO, there is a pretty big difference between the S & the V6.

Drew, i'm also from Chicago..was in the same spot as you about 2 months ago...I went for a pretty loaded 03 S and do not regret this move. S is world above the V6 although I would consider V6 for the wife perhaps...not that V6 is a bad truck but it is not the S. Drive both and you will se what we are talking about. By the way, I recommend Loeber Motors and ask for Lance...good shop with good people...

Actually Lance was my original sales guy. Overall he is a very good guy and Loeber looks like a great dealership. But the deal that Motorwerks is proposing is too good to pass up. $775/mo for an S on a 48 month 60k miles Porsche Options loan. The S is really calling my name. Oh and the other benefit is that the car is in town at another dealer and I can get it immediately. Woohoo...

well, give Lance a chance to match it...if you are patient he will get you the deal you want..put some money down...it is all about the price of the car and options...finance rates are all the same...tell him the deal you are getting and he will get you a car...also, if yo ulive in the city it only makes sense to deal with Loeber...they are the largest MB dealer and soon will be biggest Porsche dealer...they will have a brand new showroom soon.

i suggest that you look at the whole package...the dealer...how close dealer is to where you live...it is important...Motorwerks is way the hell outside of Chicago and they suck as far as responses to my questions and calls. Loeber is a class act...there is plenty of cars out there...I waited 3 months for the right car to come in...don't rush into things..price isn't everything...you are so close to new year...I would go to Loeber after x-mas before new year...Also you should be talking to your dealers about $500 over invoice or at invoice type of a deal at this time of the year unless it is a 05 then perhaps $1000 - 1500 or so over..

Get the S, the power alone makes it worth it.

Hey Drew,

Try bargaining I only got my V6 for 41,500, it has an MSRP of 48K mine is an '04 you didnt find anymore '04's?. Jaro's right my wife drives the car more than I do, but still nobody can keep up with me going up to Tahoe,I dont care if they drive an AMG ML or a 4.6 X5 they have a hard time with my V6..but when I upgrade it will be the Turbo. Plus 17K is a big difference to me, I can buy my friend's 1990 C4 for that. Well, good luck with your decision, you will definitely enjoy it..

Both cars are '05s. I have a friend of a friend at Motorwerks so all things being equal I want to go through him. And as I figure the deal now I am about $1,700 over invoice. Pretty good in Chicago.

Thanks

Drew

go for it...I don't do business with friends..it backfires at times..again...if you live in the city and want a convinient location to have the car services Loeber is the way to go. Unless you want to drive 45-60 minutes one way be my guest. It is a known fact that the dealer that sold you the car will treat you better then if you bought it elsewhere and want it serviced there...I prefer a Cayenne loaner or MB loaner then a chevy or Ford...but that is just me...good luck! let me know if you want a group buy for accessories or aftermarket stuff. We can save on shipping and cost of parts...

I don't want to sound like a broken record but go S you will at least feel better when you fly past the stock Cayenne on the road

Did you put any money down with Dealer #1 with the V6?? Sometimes they want $2,500 to "hold the vehicle"
I got caught in this same situation between an S at dealer#1 and a Turbo at dealer #2. I had a $2,500 deposit on the S and then found the Turbo at another dealer.... had to cancel the S at dealer #1 to go with the Turbo from dealer #2. Big fight on the phone with Dealer #1 and they are saying they need to sell the vehicle first before refunding me...luckily I used AMEX and they are dealing with it now. I'm still not totally out of the woods yet though...sucks

I would definately go for the S. The V6 leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to power. For 70 bucks extra a month, its a no brainer.

PTEC good point....that't simply one fraction of what one spends at a bar on one night.

Moogle...I wouldn't call it a VW engine now...has a bit more to it then that...this was debated on too many forums now so will not get into it....but it is close....but the handling is still superior to most SUV's and even cars...
