Default PSM question ???

I never really used the psm off option on my CS except when there was a traction issue in the snow. I just used PSM off on my CT and noticed the following:

W/"psm on" in auto tip mode, the tranny defaults to 2nd gear when starting out and most shifts under normal acceleration happen at or below 2000 rpm's.

W/"psm off" in auto tip mode, under normal acceleration from a stop (defaults to 1st gear), it won't shift out of 1st until around 4000 rpms. Subsequent auto shifts do not occur until 3000 rpm's for the rest of the gears. Is this normal???

Thanks

Sounds about right. PSM activation changes the shift algorithms in the Tip. I've never charted the RPM's, though.

PS - shifts also seem a bit "harsher" in PSM off - a byproduct of shifting @ higher RPM's.

Correct, I think its even higher in the 5K's with the latest software, much more aggressive. The shifting is also smoother with the latest auto transmission control module.

Since this is a PSM subject, question: Unlike the 996, the Cayenne has no light when the PSM kicks in. I noticed that when I was on a trip with lot of snow. Is this normal? Also, with PSM off, does it automaticly reactivate when ABS actives?
