Default Cayenne TT owners...

How happy are you with your purchase??? I am considering trading in my S for a T(test drive tomorrow). I have to say my early model '03 has been quite buggy and let's not talk about the persistent steering wheel vibration issue. Any TT owner's have any annoying problems or steering vibration that has not been rectified??? Thanks

BTW: The one I am looking at is a 2/04 build date

Mine is a May 04 build TT and so far flawless and I'm completely happy (but only 2,100 Mi) Wheel vibration solved before delivery by road force balance at the dealer. The power and torque is truly amazong an brings a smile everytime I drive it.. I'm also a sucker for the big 20" wheels, red brakes and the other Turbo amenities incl the ride height adjustment etc.. Mine is pretty much loaded except fo the rear AC upgrade, and has most of the features of other lux cars. Dealer is only 1/2 mi from my house and so-far needs only 2 hours notice for an appointment. I never drove the S, but I am sure that it is more than adequate for 99% of the day to day driving. The TT is more of a visceral feeling, and although expensive, certainly less than the 996 TT for equal technology and features. (Thanks to VW for sharing the engineering cost of the unibody) Otherwise we would never have the Cayenne at all.

Best of luck with the decision.

We love ours not regrets.

08/03 build date for the 04 year.

We went with the Turbo after the S test drive. The S is awesome but the Turbo was Amazing. The power is fantastic and the all around package was well worth it.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the purchase.

Only failures we had were PCM sound went out and have the throttle lag issue, we only have 4200miles on the car.

Only real downside is are you going to have this as a keeper or sell it off within 5 years. Depreciation will kill you but will stabalize and hold strong. It sucks gas like no tomorrow and oil useage is a little more than normal, about 1 qt. every 2k, more during break-in.

Lastly, the upkeep after the warranty goes could be interesting.

Otherwise, it was the only SUV that appealed to us or we would have gone with an Audi RS6.

Good luck!

Thumbs up

MY 2004, late May '03 build.

Engine, handling, comfort --all kick A$$. Nothing else like it. Period. I have driven or owned them all (BMW, MBZ, Range Rover, Lexus, ad nauseum) Love the TT, and used the purchase for a tax deduction.. I understand this deduction may be coming to a close with one of the Capital gains reduction bills sitting on George W.'s desk at this time. Closest to the TT is it's younger brother - the S. My father liked the S enough to buy the S with PASM. His is mostly trouble free as well.

Neither of us has had any steering vibration.

Lag or lurching is still an issue in both but I "play" with the tiptronic while driving to "compensate".

The remotes' range are poor. And I lose my comfort settings when switching between remotes. I believe all of those WXXX recalls will resolve the issues, but haven't had a chance to get it to the dealer.

Mine is an 1/03 build. I got it used but suspect it was the first TT to arrive at Park Place Porsche in Dallas. I have been absolutely satisfied. It seems as though most of the issues are with the S's. Most TT owners seem very happy. There is obviously some bias in my comments and there is about a 5:1 ratio of S to TT owners and so one would expect the same for reliability comments. I would have reservations about purchasing an S due to all the vibration comments posted. However, I would have no reservations about the TT.

Rockitman,

I have an 04 S with 22000 miles with minimal problems. Interestingly, I had a TT on order but after driving the S and TT back to back I like the S more. Mine has the steel suspension and no variable assist steering with makes it a lot more fun to drive and much more responsive. The TT is, of course, faster but it wasn't enough for me to change. I have several friends that have made the same choice after driving mine vs another friends turbo. This crowd is not price sensitive.

I now have a 05 S on order with some other options, but still a steel suspesion and no variable assist steering. I must be a real weirdo, because I am the only one on this forum that seem to favor this configuration.

Im with you there. I cant stand the variable assist steering, I find it way over boosted and artificial feeling. I prefer the feel of the steel day to day, but I do wish I could adjust ride height, its a great feature. I have alot of experience with both since my father has a CT, and I have a CS, and we live close to eachother. But of course I prefer the gobs of power of the CT, but am completely happy with my CS.

Thanks for all your responses guys!!! I just drove the truck and I love it!!! Will be picking her up on Monday. 3/04 Build, Basalt Black with these additional options. Based on the actaul trade in value, it looks like I was able to save close to $9K off msrp. Not great, but not bad...My dealer is relatively small and I imagine I might have been able to save a couple more grand if I shopped bigger metro dealers. I feel that purchasing from the dealer who would be servicing the car is worth the extra cost in the long run. Here are the options. I will post pics of course early next week. I can't wait!!!

0TD - Floor Mats - Carpeted
J2C - Second Battery
7K3 - Tire Pressure Monitoring Sys
7A2 - 6 Disc CD Changer
3FE - Moonroof
C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
1D6 - Trailer Hitch w/o Hitch Ball
QR1 - Compass Display
PE3 - Sport Seats w/ Memory
5MG - Dark Burr Wood Package
1NP - Wheel Hub Covers Colored Crest
