What were your expectations regarding reliability?

My overall reliability expectation was fairly high and BTW has been met thus far. I spent lots of time on the forums before purchasing. With that said, I was prepared and looking for the little things people spoke about with their Cays. Had some small service things, but I had no surprises.

What did surprise me was the big gap in service departments knowledge. Some really know what they are doing and others are basically oil changers wearing Porsche shirts.

Less on my part as well. In 9 Months I have had 9 visits and a total of 31 days of out of service time. Two of the items that were "fixed" in visit 9 have to be re-addressed in visit #10.

My "replacement" Cayenne Turbo is in the shop already with 600 miles on it (Lag, trim falling off, airbag light and brake issue).

The good news is that it is better made than my old Turbo and I have IRA Porsche working on it for me. They are, without a doubt, the very best dealership I have ever dealt with. The fact that they are a Rennlist sponsor as well is pure gravy.

I had modest expectations and covered myself by not taking the extra electronics. I too did due diligence on both the Treg board, this board & roadfly. All were very helpful & most posts were unselfish & honestly trying to help. It was my first experience in a forum & very positive (It still is).

My problems were (dead batteries-my fault), window drip, tow hitch and wheel alignment. Other than a standoff at the OK corral with my regional rep (for tires-11K mi), the service department has been good.

Ijust got back from my 18,000 mi service (cost $278); got the recall info off this site(all done), tire alignment checked (OK).

BTW I had a noisy flutter behind the radio that was related to the flaps within the AC tubes. they found the air hepa filter clogged with dirt (from my job dust) restricting the air flow, probably driving the sensor nuts (fixed no chrg)

I'm very satisfied.

thanks torags I have t hat right now !

Mine has been totally reliable, i.e never broken down, let me down, and always starts. biggest thing is it reliably puts a smile on my face.

been in for various things but I dont regard that as reliability.

So far our S is very reliable. No probs besides warranty bulletin issues. Couple Gremlins popped up but went away after couple hours (radio shutting down). I am pessimistic about this vehicle in higher mileage are lets say 60K+ range concering the electronics. I think the powertrain is very solid and not an issue. Hopefully im wrong about the electric.

We just purchased on '05 CS hoping most of the bugs/problems have been worked out (or at least solutions have been developed).

Cool

This is my first P car and I have been very satisfied. Before purchasing I surfed the Roadfly Board daily and knew what to expect with the Cayenne. It has been an exceptionally good vehicle especially given it is a first year production. I expected the engine to be flawless and it has been except for oil consumption has been higher than I expected. Electronics have at times been only a small nuisance with the PCM being fussy. Handling has been absolutely superb. I would strongly recommend this vehicle to anyone who is looking for a sporty SUV of this size and doesn't give a rip about mullah.

No problems except the recall for wiring harness and DME re-prog, no big deal, had a nice Audi wagon loaner for the day. Great family hauler.

Approaching 2k miles now and other than the issue with the seat not returning to the fully programmed setting for my wife, (mine works fine) I have no problems (Knock on wood). The car is absolutly flawless. No lag, shifting, vibration or other problems to date. Hope it stays that way. It also feels much more powefull than the 8k mile demo I test drove.

Very reliable SUV (electrical gremlins always expected with so much technology built in). No complaints really. I love to drive this big toy!

Make sure you read the question carefully. I see some people are answering wrong. The question is "Did you expect your Cayenne to be: more or less reliable"

For example: P car squared answered "less" but in reality he should have answered more. He expected the car to be MORE reliable.

I THINK THE QUESTION IS FLAWED. My cayenne is as reliable as I expected.

It is a loaded question (reason why I didn't vote). I have been very impressed with this vehicle and expected its excellent performance (hasn't let me down).

If you read about the many years it took to develop and test it (all over the world in the most extreme conditions) and the most sophisticated and some novel (racing) technology that Porsche built into this super 911, you will not question reliability. If it wears the badge you can bet that there is No Substitute!
