Default Phone install on 2005

I just got my TT Friday and love it! I ordered the factory kit for the phone. Does anyone have experience on the install, etc.??

There is every indication that the telephone option is not compatible with the PCM2.

Is this a dealership installed option? Please report on the results.

I ordered the Telephone Preparation option. I have not scheduled my install yet. I have a Siemens s46 phone that I will be using. Was looking for any info/ideas before taking to the dealer. Sometimes the customer (thanks to this site) knows more than the service writer.

Has Toby done an install on a PCM2 vehicle?

It would be good to verify that this will work prior to having the dealership attempt the installation. The pennies that were saved by the factory not including the wiring required for this kit will quickly be consumed, many many times over, by the dealership tearing the interior apart to add these wires.

Unless things have changed for '05, this will NOT work with the PCM2.

If you discover otherwise, then please post that information.

According to my dealer, the phone prep will now work with the PCM2. When the 05's were on the Porsche website inventory, several had both options.

Step back folks...... give the man some air..........

Yep. Been there, done that!

pdxjim, you'll be happy to know that THB does make a cradle for your S46. This system is really quite good. I only wish my Bluetooth adapter could be replaced quicker by THB (apparently there has been a run on them). I can pair my THB system with my new iPAQ H6315, and certain buttons work on the BT adapter, but the audio is hosed. Thus I need a new adapter. One is coming, just not fast enough.

Note that you can order the cradles directly from car-kit.com if Porsche hasn't figured out how to order/stock cradles yet. Be prepared for a two-day jaunt by your dealer through your spoiler, roof-liner and electronics. Also, it's a personal thing, but for me the Kuda cell cradle is a much nicer touch than the black piece of plastic included in the base prep kit.

When you go to buy this setup, you need the prep kit to get the baseline wiring and antenna hookups. Then you need to buy the main kit for the cradle, electronic control module and the VDA cable. Those two kits, plus your newly purchased cradle for your S46 will get you a real, live factory hands-free setup for your Porsche Cayenne! Holler if you need some pointers.

And yes, Bozo III is still working on the Turbo. You have no idea how goofy we looked last weekend setting cam timing. I swear, I put 10 miles on the engine 360 degrees at a time between Saturday and Sunday!
