DME Upgrade
I just got the word that there will be a DME upgrade for the Cayenne S.
This should solve the hesitation problem.
There is no exact date for the release but the software update will come with this month update cd for the dealer's PIWIS/PST3.
The new DME update is version 3.1 and makes some serious changes to the mapping .
This information only counts for RoW CS owners.
I can't tell for US.

Toby, how could you leave all THIS:
Cardan shafts
Squealing brakes
Vibration issues
Egas hesitation
Transfer case cracks
Seat belt bolts
A remote that doesn't work if you're more than 12" from the car
Dash display defaults to avg mph, but only on some cars
Cellphone (with or without PCM2?)
Towing controller issues....LED trailer lights...sorry
BiXenon headlight condensation
No Audio problems (no comments from the peanut gallery!)

Don't think it's TSB2470 in the US.
Both '2470' TSBs seem to be a stern hand slap from Porsche to the dealers. They give me the impression that Porsche is trying to reign in dealers that are slapping in these fixes to try to address customer complaints.

Roughly quoting from the TSBs, the first one states that replacing DME control module is not necessary and dealers need to pay for it; the second one said that DME updates won't solve the problem and dealers should refer to manual OBD II (DME 7.1.1) for the lurching complaints.
Judging from the 'fixes' received by other owners, it is most likely these fixes could be performed without replacing the DME units or sw updates.
Can anyone describe what the differences between DME module and Transmission control module? Are they the same thing?

So basically there is a new tiptronic module (TCM) that is separate from DME module? I assume the part has a new revision number (955 618 022 11) refers to the TCM, not the DME?
I've made an appointment to my dealer next week and will post updates if I manage to convince them to replace TCM.

Basically, acceleration hesitation, lazy downshift in traffic. Sometimes big transmission/shaft knock when you are slowing down followed by a small acceleration (changing gear/acceleration at the same time).
If you drive it hard, no problem.

TSB 7/04 2470 "Replacing DME Control Modules Unnecessarily" goes so far as to note that non-faultily modules will be returned and debit from the dealer's account.
While TSB 8/04 2470 "Engine Operation and Performance Complaints" flat out says that flashing the DME will not solve customer complaints about performance beyond "Acceleration when starting-off".
Don't know about you but "Acceleration when starting-off" is not the throttle _safety_ issue I need solved.
