I'm in...3 strikes your outta here!

This is beginning to smell like the engine casting problem with the Boxster. I'm pretty sure the "cardan" shaft is cast. I already had to be very strong with my dealer about the fact I am not going to pay for new tires when the current ones are not worn nor have uneven wear. They can balance for "free" until the cows come home, or in this case, me from the BVI.

Having no pepper-pot of my own may I say: Not only was the standard "bed bug" reply far less responsive than I would expect to receive from PCNA, but the clodhopper who penned it failed to correct his mispellings before sending it out. Perhaps "It's not your father's Porsche" should be the company motto from now on!

I HAVE NOT HAD THE UNDER 200 MPH ALIGNMENT RECOMMENDED AS I DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT
Just an FYI, the under 200 km alignment issue is the opposite of what someone had reported earlier. My dealer gave me a copy of the TSB and it states that an Alignment SHOULD NOT be performed on the Cayenne with less than 140 miles or 200 km on it due to settling.

gig: Thanks for the FYI! I will leave well enough alone as a result. My CS tracks like a dart at all speeds and on all roads and tire wear is not only even; it is not bad at all overall.

Thumbs up

Add me to your campaign. I think that letter was a slap in the face to all loyal Porsche customers who pay hard earned $$$ for these vehicles.

BTW, I too have not had any vibration issues with almost 14,000 miles (mostly Hwy. miles) knock on wood!

I too have not had the tires alligned either. The dealer hasn't informed me of that TSB (and I have used 20" Porsche Design / Michelin Diamaris Summer Pkg. & 18" CT / Dunlop M2 winter Pkg.). The only vibration noted sporadically has been due noticed on uneven or poorly surfaced roads.

More details on my vibration, it occurs at 2200-2400 rpm and occurs at this engine speed regardless of gear and vehicle speed. Oddly, occurs while in neutral. Similarities?

New tires, new alignment and it still vibrates. Now 68-78 mph... :-(
Service will be looking at it again when I go back in for yet another recall next week.

I just bought a new Cayenne S yesterday and today I have been back because both headlamps have fog in them and the vibration at 70 mph is also there. First thing I did after I bought it was take it out on the tollway to see what it would do and I couldn't believe the vibration. I love lots of things about the Cayenne but this has to be fixed as that is the normal cruising speed range. I told my wife not to worry because when I bought my 996 a few years back I too had some issues early on but once they got fixed I haven't had any issues. We'll see, I'm going back in a few days to have them fix these things, wonder what kind of loaner I'll get?

It might be interesting to see of any of the Toureg boards have similar issues.
My friend works at a VW dealer. Sold two very early Touregs to his friends
and hand a lot of vibration issues. I think they were found to be in the drive shafts.

Food for thought..

Don
