Tonight wife went out to run an errand. I get a call from her ten minutes later with her shouting brakes are low. She turns around and putlls into the drivewatg with not so happy face, mumbling you could of et me know the brakes were low. I'm like whatever, anyways started the car and indeed the brakes are low, and the low brake fluid sign comes on. I take a look at the front wheels, one looks wet and on further investigation see the brake line leaking. Guess I've to wait until Monday to order new brake lines...smh
edit: Just remember the PO did give me a new pair of front brake lines back in 2018, so I guess I'll be changing them out tomorrow.
Something doesn't look right, I don't recall the brake lines being that long when I did my suspension. Those are braided which have the risk of traping dirt and wearing out the rubber underneath. I'd go back to factory lines.
Yikes; that's a problem with random aftermarket lines! I'd be trying to get some OE lines, or aftermarket ones that can be routed in the exact same manner as the originals.
I do run the braided liines on my track car but on the '06 CTTS I replaced all of mine with OEM lines as a preventative measure last year. Braided have their place but the aftermarket has over done selling them for everything.
The Cayenne doesn't go on the quickjack often, so since it's on there I'll go ahead and change the rear brakes, bleed system and rotate the tires one time. Also cleaned out the drains and tightened DV fittings.
finally getting around to turning off brake warning....
Got both sides done. Hardest part was getting the T30 torx bolt off. The torx bit I was using had seen better days; ran to the store across the street and bought a new one and boom.
