The forum poster, Crozzer is talking about the motor to engage/disengage the rear end diff which is a rare option on 955/957's, as he mentioned, 1Y1 option, very few have this option. It was available separately as option 1Y1 but also came with an off-road package but not to be confused with the off-road Nav package which just gave the bread crumb trail in the Nav system activated.
Got it now, totally get it. In that pic the name for the part# is 0AC, is that indication of a “C” revision, and a new TC module helps for the rear actuator issue that Crozzer had, or fixing the stepper motor? I ask cause I need to replace mine, and looking at other TC modules, the part#s start with 0AC, 0AD, so is that the version of it? If not, I don’t see how else you can tell.

Almost. That one is a B. The last letter is the revision. That was a rear transverse lock control module, not a transfer case module. Apologies for the confusion.

EDIT: of course I find it right after posting. Says to be prepared for minor fluid leaks. Doesn’t appear to require fluid change.

Having done the swap, it drops a few drops. Just have a rag handy to wipe up and stuff in the hole while you swap it.

Perfect, thanks Crozzer. Is the TC module also recommended to be swapped when doing the stepper motor, or is it a nice to have for revision's sake, but not a must?

There is a TSB "Technical Information Service 3 19/10 EN 3978" for all 955/957's, “All-wheel drive system defective”, it tells you to change both for a low range overheating problem of the stepper motor. Some do both anyway or try to find a later control module if they have an early '03~'05 955 as there were later program/module revisions.

Correct, from what I gathered from other threads, those TC modules that are updated versions are those with part#s ending in "BT".

Just following up, those codes were likely from a blown fuse on the actuator power circuit. Fixed that and all seems fine with the original rear transverse lock actuator. Do not know why that fuse blew? Hopefully all remains well.

so maybe that Amazon one is worth trying if/when anyone else needs it replaced.
