dohhh-
Wife ruined a rear on the car today- did not realize it was way low and drove 10 miles or so on it, abrading the sidewall to about nothing. Just glad she did not have a wreck/get hurt.
PITA part comes in that she has to have it flat-bedded to tire shop, and no replacement tires in town. Have to have one FedExed in from Indiana so I can have the car back tomorrow. Other option was wait till Wednesday nbext week for ground.
All told, $400+ for tire/shipping/mounting.
So has anyone figured out how to retrofit a spare to a 2003 Cayenne? And how much it would cost? The spare alone is $500, so I am scared to know what kind of cost is involved in pulling battery, replacing sub-woofer, etc....
Or do I sell her on a Turbo, with tire pressure monitoring?

There's a bunch of info on spare tire addition on renntech:

After taking out not one but two tires on the Targa recently on a very sharp pothole, I think I need a spare for the CS too.

>The spare is identical to Touareg's (V8s 18" spare) - did anyone check the price from VW? It may be half price or less!!
You wish.
Price is the same $540 in NYC area. No more cheap VWs.
Best price I've got was $430 incl. shipping from Oregon from

I followed the instructions as listed on the webpage below. Installation was easy, straight forward and only took 1/2 hour. Peace of mind was my motive. I ordered the spare from Suncoast Porsche, but ordered the blind nut/handle/stud from my local dealer.

After installing I found an interesting dilema, my dealer installed wheel security studs, but did not give me the socket!
