Default Porsche CDR23 unit - CD operations question

I have a question on the above subject radio/CD unit for my Cayenne S.

Everytime - with a CD in the unit already - when I power up the unit, a "S" or sigma sign, a down arrow sign, and "TP" appears briefly and then disappear. (The sigma and the down arrow appear above the 8th and 10th multifunction buttons.)

If I hit the "S" before it disappears it displays the CD's total number of songs and total play time. If I do hit this button, the "S" and the down arrow and the "TP" stays on. If I do not hit it before it disappears, I could not get them to re-display unless I power down and power back up and hit it before it disappear again.

Same situation with the down arrow sign.

Any body knows what is going on? Searched all over the user manual and it is not there!

i know exactly what you are talking about

this is normal, same as on the CDR-23 on my 2003 Boxster S.

this is basically giving you a choice as to what to view on the cdr-23

if you want to keep viewing total time/track

or just track

the only bad part is that it doesnt remember this and if you like the setting after pressing the sigma, you need to do it every time... pretty annoying,

i dont bother with it.

the cdr-23 is truely stupid, im getting a PCM2, suggest you do the same.

Moogle,

Are you aware of any software updates for the CDR23? My logic is that since I cannot find the item anywhere in the user manual, it could be something that should not have been there in the first place OR there is a update to it?

What do you think?

there are no firmware upgrades for the CDR-23 to this date.

believe me, ive asked.

i've been trying to get AUX-IN (auxilliary audio input) into the radio since the day i bought it October 2002, and have thusfar come up with ziltch.

again, i'm getting the PCM2 navigation unit, its much better and should have come with the car in the first place.
