Default 957 GTS Cayenne w/ 265/50/19 Snow Tires

Everyone thoughts on a 957 GTS with Cayenne Turbo III (2013) rims 19x8 w/ 265/50/19 Michelin X-Ice snow tires. Looks like stock the rims come with 265 tires however 19x8 width seems to be rated at 255 widest. Also would these be too skinny for the hog?

Those are pretty wide for an 8" rim that would normally run a 235 or 245 max tire. It's going to round the tread out a bit and make the ride a little bouncy and balloony because of that but don't think it will cause any major issues. I don't think going to a skinnier tire in that wheel is a great idea either as you still need to support a 5000 lb vehicle.

If probably get 9" or 10" wheels and 275 or 285 snows to have the proper setup.

^^^THIS^^^ I just made four traverses of Washington Pass (WA 20) in the past ten days which is about 60 miles south of one of the snowiest places on the planet. Get the bigger wheels and larger sized tires. I am running 275s front and 315s rear. I have been the last to cross the pass three times when the state closed the gates for the season. Invest properly in your snows.

Looking back they are 8.5 wide. The rims come stock with 265 / 50 / 19. That's where I am confused. Would the 8.5 basically mean they are 9 wide?

I believe the factory 19" tire size for our generation Cayenne is either 255/50/19, or 275/45/19. 275 is also the reccomended tire width if you use a 20" rim

The 265 would be a bit tall but fine on 8.5" rims.

You can also use 18" rims on the GTS - they fit over the brakes

I guess the question is what are you after?
Stock Cayenne 18" rims came with 255-wide tires. So at 265 you're technically ok.
Those rims are 8.5 wide, which is the minimum for a 275 tire: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec....OENC&tab=Specs
Factory 957 19" wheels were 9" wide, a little strange that Porsche went for 8.5" on 958, but not surprising in today's day and age where fuel economy is a big deal.
If you want 275 on those rims, go ahead. A little extra traction, a little worse MPG.
You're splitting hairs here for normal street driving.
