2005 Turbo S Stuck in Park after battery replacement
Hey there!
So long story is, my husband pulled my 2005 Turbo into under cover, and forgot he left it running. Who knows how many days it idled, but died with the key in the turned on position, then the bth fattery froze (we had sub zero temps that week). He filled with fuel and replaced the battery, and after some convincing the car started. (He feels terrible about this whole thing BTW). Now, as you can imagine, there are some codes being thrown, that have to do with air suspension, and the PSM warning is on. The car is also stuck in park and we have not been able to move it since getting it restarted. We performed the manual override and still stuck. Any ideas on how to get it out of park or what might be going on would be amazing! Thank you so much!

If the battery is now fully charged, disconnect it at the ground acorn nut in front of the seat for 10 minutes then reconnect it. This will reset all the modules that had previously received wonky voltages from the dead battery.

Air suspension and PSM on is normal after unhooking the battery. To clear these up all you need to do is to start the car. drive forward straight ahead about 50 feet, stop, turn the steering wheel 1 turn to the left, then back to center, then 1 turn to the right, then back to center. Then drive forward another 50 feet.
This resets the steering wheel angle sensor.

Are you still having the issue? Please update. There are several things that it could be. Do you here the clunk noise when you first turn the key? Does the shifter lever move but the car stays in park. Have you turned the key to the left and held it then let it return to middle then turn right to start?

Hey there!
Yes, still cannot get the car out of park.
Brake lights are working.
The override on the solenoid doesn't work
Changed the solenoid still doesn't work
Undid the batter no work
Check ALL fuses
Open to any and all ideas!

No clunk when the key is first turned.
Shifter won't budge at all
Tried the left to center, then right on key position nothing changed.

Bless you!

Bizarre that the override (lever in front of shifter under console cover plate) does not release the shifter lever. Are you sure you are moving the right lever? Is the battery in the key dead? Does it have a P on the dash when the key is turned on? Does it flash up any messages? Did you say the car starts? Check fuse 41 on the drivers side. Check 52 on passenger side. There may be others that I am not thinking about. I will have to look when I get home.

I did have this happen on one of mine electrically but the override would still work. I did not have power to the solenoid. I could connect a wire to power the solenoid and it would work. The problem was that one of the wires going to the solenoid was cut. You may want to get a test light and make sure you have power to the solenoid. Sorry you are having this problem. Don’t give up. You said you checked all 100 fuses?

Correct release will not release the shift lever.
Car starts, (but I haven't checked the battery on the fob)
Yes, there is a p on the dash. Since the battery died, the PSM light is on, as well as "faulty air suspension," code, as well as "regulation switched off," none of those were on pre battery failure.
Checked all fuses, but will check again
Yes, power to the solenoid,
Funny thing....When the key is turned to the left and I press the shifter button I can hear it clicking to the key, but there is no click when the car is turned on and running.
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! Definitely won't give up!

Okay to fix the regulation issue turn the key like you are going to start it but don’t press the brake. hold the level switch up for 10 seconds this should turn it back on. It is possible that the button on th shift **** is not pulling the pin all the way up. Have you had the **** off? When you squeeze the button on the **** it actually pulls up on a pin that releases the lever. Even if you flip the red lever you have to pull up on the pin. I am attaching pics. One of the red lever locked and one unlocked. The other picture shows the pin that must be pulled up by the button. The one I took the pic of is broken. It should have a hole in it so the button will pull it up.
Locked
Pin that the button on **** pulls up. This one is broken.
Unlocked
Front view of shifter
Blue connections for solenoids.
Underside of shifter.

Just wanted to say thank you all for responsive to this! My baby is mobile again!
So we had a mechanic drive to our house, (which is a feat considering we are 96 miles to the nearest Walmart.). He cleared all the codes then we got to work on trying to get it out of park. The over-ride didn't work for him either, so he went in deeper into the shifting box. Some how, some way, the shifter wasn't lifting high enough on those little plastic ladders in there. But once it was back in place, life was good again.
So looking forward to driving down the road again!

Thanks for the update. So it sounds like the button on the shift lever was not pulling the pin all the way up. How was he able to fix it? Did he say what may have caused it? My guess would be the **** got pushed down too far. Possibly in frustration someone slammed their fist down on the shifter ****, LOL. I am joking but I would like to know what he thought may have caused it.
