My rear window has been popping open all day today (started early in the week), as a result cannot take pepper out to big dinner tonight!!!!
The latch relay keeps releasing, quite randomly; would be a big help if I could pull a fuse for the evening. Tried several, couldn't find it.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Yeah, I have been there, done that! My hatch probably popped open 50 times in one day.
Sorry, I have no clue about a fuse, but I do feel your pain. Luckily, the dealer was able to solve it, and I havent had a problem since.
Mine would be good sometimes, and pop-o-rama some of the time, hopefully it will behave this evening!

Actually, I just fixed it - for the evening, anyway. I disabled the switch, which apparently seems bad, by pulling the panel underneath it (inside the window), and pulling the connector.
Was easy. and the problem has stopped. I'll contact the dealer tomorrow, see how fast I can get this replaced.
Thanks for your reply.

You can open the plastic cover on the inside of the glass top and there is a switch which you can lock with a metal peice so that it would not unlock! Needs replacement of the lock by the dealer.

Really pissed me off, too. I was out in the rain when it started up again today, and was hoping to take it to dinner with many friends.
All is well for now. I'll visit the dealer tomorrow, see how it goes!
Thanks,
Jeff

It seems likely that this problem would have error fault codes stored in the rear control unit, that would indicate the source of the problem.
My suggestion is to request that the dealership interrogate the vehicle for fault codes, then post those fault codes into this topic.
It may be that removing right side fuse box fuse F31 would disable power to the rear window. It is likely that the rear wiper would be disabled with this fuse removed.

k2kv,
My hatch started opening all by itself as well.
My Porsche dealer was aware of the problem/complaint and installed a new design rear glass hatch switch (20 minutes).
Problem solved!

It was definitely the switch. Just returned from my dinner, latch stayed closed and switch is disabled. No problem.
Dealer will have to replace the switch. Let's see what he has to say about it.

That is funny...
Try pulling the cover off from underneath the switch (the underside of the glass). The connector is under there; perhaps it has come loose!

I've noticed this Cay weakness...
The real problem is a rear window area "design", which is very vulnerable to the WATER LEAKS in this area, aspecially with added sudden DROP IN TEMP outside to freezing...
All of you guys have one thing in common, - it happens in RAIN...=> water gets into locking mechanizm and it stops working. After couple of WARM/SUNNY days water dries out and lock starts working again...![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Replacing this window lock mechanism to NEWER design is one way of doing this, but it may not or may work 100% and sustain water leaks in that area.
But there is AN IMMEDIATE and REAL PROBLEM source simple solution... LUBRICATE lock inside, apply plenty of MOTOR OIL, it will start working.
How to prevent water leak...![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If you look at the rear aluminum panel next to rear window you'll notice 3 points of leak in this panel, allowing water to get to the rear window lock receiver next to it. You may just cover them with Scotch tape...
...or gum...
See, if helpfull,

Follow-up:
Stopped by my dealer yesterday, he replaced the switch and I was back on the road in thirty minutes.
That's the second time I've just stopped by to take care of something without an appointment, and both times he took me right in.
Thanks, Sportique/Huntington!
