Steering Locked but no error message
Hi
First I have gone through the forum and have seen others have a similar issue... Steering is locked and an error message displays on the screen saying Steering Faulty or Ignition Fault...
However I experienced the same issue... but no error message but the ELV would not unlock the Steering wheel... tried disconnecting the 3 wire cable to the ELV nothing... then I tried something that wasn't mentioned anywhere i.e. disconnect the battery terminals for about 30mins or soo... then reconnected it and the Steering unlocked.
I am using the dummy key for the Ignition so when it asks me to hold the key for 2 seconds after turning the Ignition off I don't and just leave it at that... the message still displays but when I get out and lock the vehicle it goes off... this is my fail safe so the things doesn't lock up when I am refueling or something...
Any suggestions as to how and why this method worked ? Is my ELV still bad ... my guess is that it's a mechanical issue rather than an electrical one .... based on the fact that I don't get the error message ...maybe? I don't really know ... any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Disconnecting the battery reset the module and when you reconnected it it forced a reinitialization, which happened to unlock it. From what I've read, once those KESSY system issues begin it's not usually good news.
