Hello, I recently purchased cayenne s 4.5 v8 2003, it has weird engine knocking, ticking sound, I replaced chain tensioner but it's still the same. I doesn't burn any oil, engine works very normal except for this, not too much smoke coming from exhaust nothing unusual. Can someone point me to right direction on which thing to tackle first? Thanks in advance..

Cayenne 4.5s ticking noise at 43000 miles??
Hi All just hearing a similar noise on my 2004 cayenne s but my car has only 43000 miles. The car makes this sound on tick over but when driven above 2500 revs ita as smooth as silk and there are no faults from obd. Its not smoking or losing power. I just bought the car and it showed the "service now" warning so definitely needs a service but looking at the mot history this sound was noted only last year on its last mot at 41000 miles? Just wondering if a scored cylinder is possible at such low mileage and long bouts of being stood still?

There are old forum threads going back 15+ years ago of people having engines replaced under warranty.
Unfortunately low mileage doesn't mean much when it comes to scoring.
