Question Cayenne S Fair price ?

I have been following the forum for a while and finally decided to splurge and get an "S". Would appreciate any advice on the fair price ( over invoice) and who is a good dealership in the SF bay area. Thanks in advance.

You can probably get deals like above on cars that are in stock. The only problem with that is that there are very few if any in stock with the most desirable option, the air suspension. On an ordered car you might get $5k off sticker, I was only able to get $4k off my ordered out Cayenne S.

One advantage you have is a bunch of dealers to choose from, I only had two worth considering. I wanted the smidgen of loyalty (Porsche loaner at service time) buying at the servicing dealer gets you, so I probably paid $500 more than I could have.

In my casual looking for a Cayenne or S, I have noticed the same thing. Rarely do I see one with air-suspension..

Even the ones on eBay rarely have it... I didnt realize its that rare of an option for the S..

I'd be looking at this from invoice up, not MSRP down. And, for sure, your negotiating posture is stronger buying from dealer stock. $1-2K above invoice appears to be in the ballpark for an excellent deal.

When you buy, make sure the dealer fully updates the vehicle to account for all known defects before delivery:

reflash DME to reduce throttle lag
rear washer nozzle drip
Cardan shaft/bearing replacement (if early build date)
ensure proper tires are on vehcile, based on your winter driving needs (Turanzas are not good for regular all-weather/mud/snow driving conditions, great otherwise)

Negotiating from invoice up is the best way. Unfortunately the dealer is not obligated to divulge the invoice price. I have not seen anywhere on the web that has the invoice numbers either. I was able to get $4k off a lightly optioned S with PASM.

I ordered my S and got 4K off in September, which I think is close to 1-2K above invoice. The deal was done in a matter of minutes. No haggling, which is what I wanted. If you're closer to the South Bay, Louis Magagna at Stevens' Creek Porsche/Audi in San Jose is really nice to work with. He's not obnoxious or pushy at all. Known him for years.

I went with Stead Porsche in Walnut Creek. I didn't go thru the order route but had them do a search in the Porsche network and located the car in Arizona with Air suspension as a must option as well as bixenons/electric comfort. They gave me a 6k discount. Regards and good luck. Mike

Renn, cars.com only seemed to list the invoice on a base version. Is there a way to option it out and then get an invoice price? I normally use edmunds which allows you to option your own but they did not have invoice pricing last time I checked.

Judging from the $7,000 pad built into the base price, and knowing that every option has a margin built in, aren't we all paying way too much

So there is a 15%margin in the base sticker, probably the same or more in the options. On my $69,500 Cayenne they have about a $9500 profit to the dealer. They were bitching about giving me $4,000 off

I wish I would have never read the post now. On the other hand, that is less than 10% profit to the dealer. In my business I try to never dip below 10% profit, fair is fair I guess.

Just picked up a very well optioned S at Stevens Creek Porsche in San Jose. Victor (salesman) and James (sales manager) were excellent to work with in all phases. You should be able to do about $5K off MSRP (same ballpark as above). And if they don't have a car in stock with air susp they can locate one for you.

I would give them a very high recommendation.

Brent:

Sorry, here is a better link that has all the options, MSRP and invoice prices listed: http://www.cars.com/carsapp/national...id=41&zc=22309

The one I gave earlier has the info but you have to dig down individually on each option and that is a pain. I wasn't able to find any info on invoice pricing for options on the Kelly BB site, but maybe Kevin M. found it buried somewhere in there. As you note, Edmunds doesn't have any invoice pricing on their site.

The best deals will vary with geographic area and local market conditions. I was able to do a factory order on my C-S for 4.95% over invoice, or $3150. So, of course, I immediately reinvested some of my negotiated savings to arrange a Euro Delivery! The dealer doesn't make $$ on Euro Delivery -- that passes straight to Porsche.
