AMP location and function?
Greetings all,
I am getting super close to finishing my project on the 2008 cayenne GTS that my wife threw on me. I am down to a few minor projects.
The first is to replace the crappy pioneer radio with the seicane android tablet radio. But to do that I need to figure out if I have the fiberoptic bose set up or the regular setup.
I know this car has an amp in the trunk below the spare tire. I do not know if it is original or if it was added later. Second, (don't laugh) this is a drug seizure car. That's right, a drug dealer used this car to ferry drugs early in its life. So there is all kinds of funkiness in the car. So it might have come with the connections but they got ripped out later.
Would it be easiest to just pull the radio and see the connectors? I have been back there once before but I did not keep picutres. I know there is all sorts of stuff to keep the steering wheel controls working - I am not sure if I need those still or if the fiber optic connector does the trick.
I will probably pull the radio later today but any help in getting this setup would be appreciated. I know next to nothing about car audio so please treat me like the ignorant person that I am.

ALL of that is aftermarket. The stock amps - if you have the subwoofer in the tire compartment - there is an amp built into the bottom of the subwoofer, particularly susceptible to getting flooded if you have a plugged sunroof drain, and then one on the starboard side rear quarter panel - behind the little carpeted door. It's mounted in a rack and is a PITA to get out. Nothing at all like what you have was delivered from the factory.

Can you post some photos of the entire system including the head unit (further back with good lighting)?
A JL amp, 4 AWG power wiring, control wiring run half way decent...I'm guessing the Bose speakers were probably replaced with quality speakers too. Someone may have put a lot of money into that system.
Does it sound bad? Did they just slap an old Pioneer single DIN head unit in the dash? If everything is quality, the last thing I'd do is bottleneck the system by installing something like a Seicane head unit.
