Default Opinions on Tequipment side molding and

Would appreciate you opinions on the following Tequipment accessories:

Side Protection Mouldings
These robust side mouldings add an individual touch to the exterior of your car while protecting all four doors. Provided in primer color and painting in vehicle color is required. Part no. 955 044 800 06

Wheel Opening Moulding
Enhance the look and protect the Cayenne’s wheel openings with this specially designed moldings. Part no. 955 044 800 11

I am interested in both for protecting my up-coming Pepper from those car dings that appear from other peoples doors when in parking lots. Even though I will be parking away from others, it always seems someone ends up parking right next to me...

Concerened about how the moldings are attached to the vehcile what kind of warranty do you get with them if you purchase them with the vehicle, and can they ever be removed.

Thanks in advance!

I've had the Side Protection Mouldings installed as I am neurotic about dings like yourself. So many people out there that have no regard for other's property.

Anyways, they are taped on and came from the factory pre-taped. I had the dealer install them since proper alignment and painting was required. The warranty, since I had it done after the fact, is the standard shop warranty - 1 year. Removal? Don't know about that one - someone with expertise in body paint should know.

If you need pics, do a "search" in this forum for these. Somebody else here had the wheel moldings painted and installed too. Both look better than I thought they would.

From what I have seen and heard the side moldings do offer some degree of protection and don't look to bad when painted body color.

I do like the arch extensions that come with the offroad package.

Dont forget the clear side markers, they look much better.

Do you all think they will stay attached to the vehicle for ten years or more? My fear is I get them installed, only for the adhisive on the molding to weaken and have the parts come off down the road...

Looks pretty secure. But then again, 10 years is a lot to ask for something glued on that is exposed to the elements.

I have the protective side mouldings, which were an option, on my '94 968 and they haven't budged in the past 10 years. I wouldn't worry too much about the adhesive failing (I'm sure it has gotten better since 1994, and even if they do become loose, you can just reattach them).

I just bought a set of 4 Mud Flaps from Sunset Porsche in OR.
They have the best prices around thus far.

My local stealer wanted full retail price of $166.34 for the set. No PCA or rennlist disc.!

I got them at Sunset at dealer cost + 15% handling charge = $124.27 + $10.00 for shipping!

This was better than Suncoast Porsche's offer, after both PCA and Rennlist.com Member discounts = $139.00 + shipping!

You need to call Bob @ their Porsche parts dept. - It will save you alot of $$$. Don't pay full price at the dealer like I initially did - e.g., $150.00 + tax. for a set of summer OEM black mats, etc,...

BTW, I'm thinking of adding those side protection and wheel opening mouldings at some point. Do the Mud Flaps interfere with the wheel opening mouldings or is their a modified set available?

TIA and enjoy your new Cayenne!

There are two different sets of mud flaps - one for cars equipped with the wheel moldings, one for cars without.

If your fitting the wheel arch extensions you will need wheel spacers it makes the rear view even with 20" wheels look odd as the Porsche wheels have very little offset
I have the the factory offroad pack with 20" sport technos and i have never enjoyed the rear view intil I fitted the Techart spacers 22mm rear and 15mm front

Default side protections and wheel arch molding

I got both the side protections molding and the wheel arch molding.

I think the side protection molding to too low to prevent most dings. Unfortunately, you do not have flexibility on the height of placement, because the rear molding flares out for the rear wheel-well fender.
So it is lower than I would like it.

The wheel arch molding looks nice. I agree, it effective extends the fenders, so the wheels look deeper in the fender. I put on techart wheels (which has a wider track) and also put on 15mm spacers in the rear. I think it looks better now.
